I'm not in school or work currently, so I'm taking a full courseload. They are great as you can watch the lectures whenever you have the time and energy (so if one day you aren't feeling good and just want to stay in bed all day, you don't miss anything, just watch them the next day!) I'm taking 6.0...

Based on my experience in that situation in a quiet dorm that was a single, don't count on anything to change. I had that experience and had to drop out, as I was developing severe sleeping problems (not sleeping for days on end because as luck would having it, I have DSPS and find it almost impossi...

I think that prioritizing appearance is a symptom of a societal problem, a burden placed disproportionately on the shoulders of women. The relevant question shouldn't be how you look to others, but how you feel and your prospects at health and happiness in the future. I was overweight for almost my ...

I don't mean long-term, career-wise. But I've got a semester off from school and I need to earn some money in case my second appeal for financial aid doesn't go through so I can take some classes in the spring (it's a long story, but I've been dealing with health problems while going to school and f...

No. But when I do laugh, I occasionally sound just like Dr. Hutchison from Rocko's Modern Life.

-I am not at all literal-minded. I can be when I need to be - but I recognize when a literal interpretation is important/correct, and when it is not. -Never had difficulty with metaphor, sarcasm, figurative language, irony. I grasped these things well before beginning school. -Along with the last on...

This interests me too. I'm looking for a job I can do to put myself through school (I want to go into physics, probably as a researcher but considering teaching - ideally both, which professors can do at college, but I'm open to industry positions). I've dropped out of college a couple of times main...

Yeah. My mom and I always got into arguments, and when she was upset for some illogical reason, I would calmly explain why the remark was phrased a particular way that had nothing to do with insulting anyone, and then proceed to argue the reasons for what I was originally suggesting (whether it was ...

Frankly, I'm not fond of looking at Sci-Fi and comparing characters who are non-human and comparing them to having AS. It's really the other way around. An actor tasked with being an "alien" would have to reject his conditioning as a human and immerse himself into a character who knows nothing abou...

I liked it too. It really helped me deal with elementary school (I was already rather cynical and would vociferously contradict teachers and staff when they were blatantly hypocritical or engaged zero logic coming to decisions, sticking with by the books rules even when it meant that the result woul...

Another thread about whether or not Sheldon has AS...how original. ... ...... Sheldon: Was that sarcasm? Penny: Yes, Sheldon. Sheldon: I am on a roll. Disclaimer: May not be actual quote. My memory is not eidetic. Close, but no cigar. I think he does, but the writers probably based it off their memo...

This is pretty obvious. You would probably get more contention if it were framed as a choice between "A has autism/Asperger's" and "A is autistic/an aspie". For the record, I use both, depending on convenience.

Arts enrich people's lives. It is entirely logical to engage in and appreciate them. If Pollock isn't your thing, maybe that Van Gogh print or Toy Story would be more enriching, and the more logical choice for the individual. It is generally a good idea to critically explore/analyze outside your pri...

I probably still count by NT standards, but it was much more when I was younger. Nowadays I talk more, when needed in situations, but sometimes I get exhausted and end up stopping understanding what people are saying to me. I still hate it when strangers say something to me. I rarely understand what...

Well, I used to be a Canadian immigration medical officer, so I will try to shed a little light on this issue. There are two broad categories of medical assessment for immigration purposes: risk to public health and safety; and excessive demand. The first category (which is not involved, in this ca...
