AS has been frequently misdiagnosed as OCD, especially pre-94, when few were really watching for AS. There are AS symptoms that do resemble OCD, but they're part of the overall syndrome rather than a stand-alone disorder. If you think you're looking at something with aspects of both OCD and HDD, you...

What the hell is 'over intelligent'? Is it possible too be TOO smart? Why would you want to cure that? I'm no genius, but my IQ tests at well above the NT average and I wouldn't trade that (or my AS for that matter) for anything the NT world could offer. Puny humans.

A few years ago, my wife forwarded to me a weblink to an article on Asperger, with the header "this sounds like you"...I was stunned at how perfectly the symptom list fit, but most of all moved, delighted, vindicated to realize that the things I'd been berated and verbally and psychologically abused...

The symptoms of mercury poisoning more closely resemble advanced Parkinson's disease. The idea that mercury can cause a genetic brain disposition is ridiculous. I'm 48 and I've never been exposed to mercury in my life, outside of a high school science classroom and I wasn't allowed to touch it then.

I just hate other people seeing me standing there on my own and thinking I am weird or unfriendly. Neurotypicals will often think you're weird or unfriendly if you don't constantly greet and jabber, don't let it bother you. Just keep in mind that you're a rung furthur up the evolutionary ladder tha...

It's calming, definitely. Part of it for me at least is that I have to restrain myself *not* to do it, so it's relaxing to just "let go" sometimes. Channeling the urges into slightly more socially acceptable forms that still feel good to me is how I prefer to manage it in public if I have to sit re...

I just barely even read the news anymore, because it presents the world as a series of flaming craters and black smoke, not the reality I wake up to and experience every day. I think it's just shameless sensationalism -- the media profitting through tragedy to such a degree, that tragedy always get...
