^^^ I agree with the above poster. So far as ADHD/ADD being a co-morbid with autism, this is very common. My personal view is that you are either "on the spectrum" or not. That how you're affected, meaning how severe you're affected by sensory stimuli, emotions or lack of outward emotion,...

Apologies for being pedantic, but I'm not sure the OP means Borderline Personality Disorder or Borderline Asperger's. Assuming the latter, it gets a bit murky at the edges, and there's not necessarily a mutual exclusivity when it comes to personality disorders/types and neurological conditions/types...

Just wondering, I've just been looking through all my NHS correspondences regarding my diagnosis and can't find anything regarding ADOS, is this a post-Asperger's DSM-V thing or not something the UK/NHS uses?

I don't want to put the cat amongst the pigeons here but... what if neurotypicality is also spectral in nature (and I don't mean ghostly, although that is a nice thought) Then the further thought occurs; what about multi-spectrality? The human psyche (whatever the hell that means) is far more comple...

I don't think there is one anymore. There was an OKCupid one but that no longer works (not even on the wayback machine) and the best information regarding a quiz/test is here: Broad Autism Phenotype Questionnaire I must admit, I find this liminal/fringe/borderline area very interesting and I am seri...

Hi there, this is something that I am increasingly aware that I do. It's not stopping breathing, as clearly I would expire, but very shallow breathing that I suspect over time has resulted in a chronic brain fog. It seems like a combination of poor posture, shallow breathing, anticipation or anxiety...

Yes, I believe that 'performance anxiety' can be a component of Aspergers. My own situation is that I've adopted avoidant behaviours to deal with this; taking a night-time job to minimise contact with others, and cultivating a persona that to a degree allows me to get by. The main point here is that...

You mad, big pharma?

Are you referring to my post?

If so, yes. However, there isn't any other apparent way to safely or legally try medications that improve cognitive functioning. My eyes are open.

Large amounts of alcohol and pot just kidding, I don't think theres is any real treatments for ASD at this time, only some medications for co-morbid conditions such as ADD ADHD or depression. I would avoid any claims that taking LSD, MDMA or Ecstasy may cure ASD, their effectiveness is spurious if ...

I have done some singing, songwriting, acting and video making in the past. I found the insights of Jung and the humanist psychologists, that in exploring our creativity that we become more complete beings, to be not only true but very helpful to me. I'm a big fan of the concept of Arts Therapy for ...

Thanks so much for all the replies everyone, I had been thinking myself into a tizzy and it was very, very helpful to read all your thoughts on this. I still feel a degree of uncertainty but I suspect this is something that I must learn to live with. Mainly it's the childhood aspect that makes me do...

To: Apple in my Eye; I appreciate that it's not an exact science, hence all my apprehensions subsequent to and prior to my assessment, also I've read Jung (teehee!) At the moment it's not brought a lot of improvement since I'm looking particularly for something pragmatic, in the sense that I'm okay ...

Thanks Callista, for the response to my post. I'm currently on Concerta (stimulant for ADHD), which does help somewhat. I'm actually considering going to the GP to ask whether this sort of thing might help me, under the Asperger's "umbrella"; I took a Sudafed (the pseudoephedrine kind) before going ...

Firstly let me say I'm aware of possible issues with self-observation and denial, and these thoughts don't come from a 'denial-y' place, rather a rational thinking through of the diagnostic process. I have no problem with being diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (however meaningless that label will ...

Hi Maddy, here's just a short potted history of my process. I'm 32 by the way. Went to see my GP a little under two years and she referred me to a local psychologist. After about six months I got my first appointment and we talked about getting a referral. I saw the specialist in May of this year an...
