My assumption, which only fell apart when I was 58, but which I had always lived by and plan to again, is that relationships are not complicated, they don't require work, and are certainly not achieved through ruses or machinations, nor depend on on moment when one person says the wrong thing or the...

I like casually holding hands and even kissing on the lips in public, but not prolonged kissing. I think it's sweet and honestly I'm not really thinking about other people when I'm having a moment with my partner. We are both in our 60s though so I sometimes wonder if people think it looks... unexpe...

When I was a kid, and really even now, I needed one person whom I would cling to and who was my conduit to the rest of the world. It was my sister often, and at times I had a best friend who was my everything. Right now and always as an adult it was my partner, and whenever I don't have one I feel l...

I don't know if it's helpful but it might help to remember that hip surgery for people her age is quite common. My mother had surgery for a broken hip at 88 and she came through with flying colors. I'm sorry about how stressful her hallucinations are and I'm sorry the hospital is not more helpful in...

Hand sanitizers usually contain lotion to make them less harsh on skin, so they are not very good for cleaning other things because the lotion will leave a residue.

^ If the meme had just said "I am worried about being the victim of a sexual assault," I think it might have provoked a better result. No. Again, you are not engaging with what I am saying. There is nothing wrong with the meme. There isn't a better meme that would have been more productiv...

My chronic illness. ME/CFS, also known as chronic fatigue syndrome. I has taken away 90% of what makes up a normal life and it drags me down every day. But there's more than that that is wrong with me. I find everything to be a struggle and I can't just be, because everything is hard and I am always...

Generating a nationwide discussion of sexual violence against women and the attitudes of men toward the subject is an example of a failure? I has hardly failed! The problem is that men overall have had a very weird reaction, as if everything is always about them. The meme says "Women are afrai...

When I first replied here to the original poster's assertion, I agreed that the meme seemed a bit stupid. Later I expanded on that view and said that it's too divisive to be anything but counterproductive. I warned that the thread may therefore go south, but thought I'd give it a chance to prove me...

The meme is pretty dull really. Looking at it from a pure danger perspective, if all men were replaced by bears, I'm pretty sure the outcome would be obvious. Yeah, it's funny how when you intentionally take things out of context, they make less sense  But lets take the silly premise and run ...

CBT is centered on correcting one's thought patterns and negative thoughts, which presupposes that there is something wrong with what one is thinking in the first place. I get the theory that for instance if someone is depressed they may see things as worse than they are, but they also may not and t...

Maybe you can change your goals and start gradually, beginning with ones that are more achievable and build from there, step by step?

You can try to change your thinking and become more accepting of people's flaws and more forgiving, not just for them (or not for them all if you think they don't deserve it), but for yourself, because you can find peace that way.

I'm not in your same situation but I have chronic fatigue (ME/CFS) so I also spend most of my life just recuperating and being too exhausted to do anything. There are so many things I would do if I could. I don't have the answer but the way I've dealt with it is to just try to accept my situation an...
