I started watching a canadian show called regenesis (available free on hulu.com). In the very first episode, the character Bob starts chatting nonstop about something obscure to his co-worker (they are all briliant scientists who work in a bio-lab), then explains "people with asperger's can't help i... |

I didn't read it but this paragraph is just golden: Human-frog hybrids might reveal the neurological secrets of autism. By fusing cells from the preserved brains of deceased autistic patients with the eggs of a carnivorous African frog called Xenopus, scientists have started investigating the way th... |

I had a fear of swimming as a child, and I grew up in Florida with a pool in my backyard. Actually, i wasn't so much scared of swimming as much as putting my face underwater. In fact, I still won't do it. I have to wear a mask that covers the eyes and nose. For awhile I wouldn't even put my face und... |

I love really long hot showers, but I tend to think that "normal" hot water is scalding so I turn it down. Now, though, I'm trying to take luke-warm shortish showers to save energy and money. Also saves time. I get my day started soon, which is a good feeling. |

I had sexual feelings about crushes after the age of 12, but i never wanted to actually have sex with anyone until i met the right person. Some people, NTs and Aspies alike, desire sex on a purely physical level, whereas for others, a whole host of other connections have to be present to make it enj... |

Throughout my childhood and adolescence, friends would suddenly turn on me, ignore me, or be mean to me and i was clueless as to why. My mom tells me I was rude and mean to them and ignored them, I just didn't know I was doing it. I think this is pretty common for us. I was also clueless about if a ... |

I have had sleep issues all my life. When I was a child, I surrounded myself with pillows and stuffed animals and made a comfortable cozy little nest. I felt I need to be surrounded on all sides. It wasn't until I was in my 20's that i realized what my body was really craving was weight. I got a wei... |

I love rainbows and bright colors. I was upset when I learned as a teenager that the rainbow represented gay people, a group I was not a part of. I was happy when i learned a few years ago it also represented autistic people, a group I am a part of. I dislike the puzzle piece ribbon, however, for tw... |

When I tell people about my hiccup problem, they invariable offer some proven strategy to get rid of them. When I tell them I've tried them all, they say "Oh but have you tried _______? I swear it always works!" This just annoys me. Nothing works for me except time and, if I can, throwing up air. No... |

I get hiccups from soda, bread, sometimes water, sometimes basically any food. People have hypothesized that I eat too fast and swallow air. I don't know. My hiccups are so severe that they can last for hours and hurt really bad. Then I get nauseous and feel like I'm going to throw up but then I jus... |

I used to be quite messy but I'm a bit of an organizing queen now. For papers, I have several filing drawers. i have one that is just for product info. When I buy something and it comes with a manual, I file it here. If some art supplies come with a big color chart on everything they make, I file it... |
