I, too, have told my son about living options. It's a hard call. For me, it was during a time when my son was being physically aggressive towards me. We are just about the same size. I don't think you threatened to kick him out. You were honest in telling him you are unable to handle a certain leve...

Wanted to update everyone about the latest. I am so proud and humbled. Thank you to everyone for your responses. Even though some were painful to read, I think you'll see they did help us all. The three of us sat down again and I expressed how I was still upset about the situation. Not what he had d...

Ok, I now think I can approach this thread from a more objective angle. Thanks to all for the replies. If my initial reaction was too much, then I will apologize to him. I always do. But one more thing and I will shut up about it.... I don't know how many of you parents have had to deal with the pol...

I feel I've been completely misunderstood. 2 Weeks prior, other parents were telling us how he is a great example he is for other Aspergers students. For 2 years we've been told he was one of the schools success stories. Etc. etc. So yes, there was a divide between my beliefs of his understanding of...

I think I understand the statement, but find it to be ruthless capitalistic rubbish nonetheless. The starving child in Ethiopia owes the world something? A government that collects trillions in taxes from its people does not owe them anything in return? Basically, I believe the statement is an excu...

appletheclown, I very much appreciate your perspective. You don't know how much! When you say he is doing very indecent things due to his choices, not Aspergers, I am not sure I understand. Can you maybe give me an example of what you mean? I ask, because at 16, I would have been completely mortifie...

Sounds like a classmate used your son's phone to send gross stuff? He manipulated your son into doing something that he knew would get your son in trouble. That's a form of bullying behavior. I think you were right to take away your son's phone, but I think your son is probably not the sicko here. ...

Hey there. One perspective you might consider taking is one I love about having an Aspergers kid. That's you can be direct and not sugar coat your conversations. You can say what's on your mind! Imagine the possibilities. Where I could never tell my wife "What you are wearing doesn't look good. Wear...

Hi all, it's been a long time... My Aspie son was making such good progress over the past years my wife and I had relaxed some and tried to give him more freedom to not monitor so much of the time. He is 16. He has never gotten good grades in school though the teachers say he is brilliant. We don't ...

Thanks for the warm welcomes and replies :) :) :) Like sinagua, my wife and I have been pulling our hair out trying to understand him. I am extremely logical (programmer and network admin) I could possibly have it myself I guess. I am extremely attuned to cause and effect. It's completely maddening ...

New parent to Asperger's. My 11yo boy's doctor mentioned Asperger's a few months ago. A school psychologist said he probably had it too. I was in denial. But after 2 school suspensions and repeated sending to the office for discipline, something had to be done. I took him to be evaluated. The person...
