blondieamc, thank you! I identify with parts of your experience a lot. How you meet him sounds a lot like how I met mine - The online relationship was very intense and in-depth. I know he's the same person who typed out all those emails, but it's just bringing that person out and finding a way to co...

MountainLaurel, I do appreciate your response. It's all very responsible and I would tend to agree with you, but If you were aware of the history behind this previous to our living together your thoughts on the matter might be more valid. Our communication prior to our face-to-face relationship last...

Having difficultly translating feelings into words as you said might be an issue. I'll keep this in mind and ask him what he thinks about it. I actually have this problem too. That and trying to think of tactful ways of bringing issues up with him without sounding as if I'm criticizing him. The last...

Hey everyone. It's been a long time since I've posted here, so I doubt anyone remembers me. Anyway, I'm in a relationship with a guy I have so much in common with. I've never understood or been understood so well by someone in my life, bar maybe my own parents. To cut a long story short, we meet onl...

Standard advice says 10% of the users body weight plus one pound. Mine is considerably less that that though, and it still does the job (it's 7lbs and I'm usually around 110-115lbs). Mine is a single, but apparently so people find a queen or king size blanket more comfortable, especially if the plan...

Again, this is very truthful. I don't understand this whole NT hating culture... although I did kind of feel that way as a teenager for a while... but that was because I was stuck in a sucky situation! We should if anything, do more to help people understand lower functioning autistics because we p...

Have you ever seen anyone score lower than 110 on the internet? I haven't. Actually I have seen quite a few people score less than 110 on the internet. Maybe you are just looking in places online where people like to brag about their high IQ and not in the general 'online population'. Still, 'quite...

I'm self-diagnosed, I admit it, I'm the cancer that is killing Autism. But I certainly haven't joined a "pride movement" or told anybody in real life except my mother in the hopes of seeing a doctor about it, it didn't happen, but I tried. So, what exactly is this movement about? I've heard of it, ...

]im guessing this could be the reason men tend to do better in science and women in arts. these are the subjects that seem to fit their instincts. for example, men are the ones usually to propose to ask people out like trying to figure out fact, whereas women are the ones being asked like creating ...

If I know someone well and have seen/have met them often before, I'll usually recognise them. I'm more likely to recognise someone I don't know well by their clothing, build, voice and mannerisms than their face. Of course, if they have any features that are 'unusual' I'll click-on to who they are q...

I'd say the IQs listed here by many are grossly exaggerated. Especially considering the legions of people claiming to be in the 99th percentile. I'd say that most of these result have been taken from online 'IQ tests', which usually spit out a vanity score. Have you ever seen anyone score lower than...

Asperger's is a real disorder for some, but has turned into a kind of "get out of self-improvement free" card for legions of socially awkward Pokemon fans. Much the same as the Encyclopedia Dramatica article. Since it's referring largely to excuse mongers with e-diagnoses' - No, I found it funny. T...

Most of mine are auditory. That is, apart from bright lighting like fluorescent lighting. Large numbers of people all talking at the same time, especially if it echos and reverberates of the walls! Say, in shopping centers, clubs and bars (never go to them) or busy restaurants. People shouting and a...

Absolutely. It's difficult to monitor ebbs and flows, or how much activity is too much and how much 'time out' is going to be needed to recoup. But just knowing that this is how you function can be useful. Before I knew I had AS, I always wondered why I was so often tired/stressed and in need of sol...

I'm glad to see someone drawing attention to this. I was encouraged and supported by a Psychiatrist specialising in eating disorders to follow-up with getting my AS diagnoses. At the time my consultant psych was only interested in my Anorexia (which was at a bad stage at the time), quite unsupportiv...
