It would be a matter of re-evaluation by someone who knows enough about autism to tell whether or not you still meet the criteria. If you don't, then your report will say "no diagnosis" or "subclinical" or something along those lines, and you stick that in your medical records and say, "Yeah, I use...

Depends on the job, but certain autistic traits would be quite sought after by the military...I'd think. But then military intelligence has been said to be a tautology  I think most autistic people would do better as a civilian contractor than a member of the military proper. Then again, some...

I haven't been told to "shh" in a very long time. I'd get pretty upset if someone did, though--it's a very rude thing to do. It's really only warranted if someone else was being rude in the first place.

To me, the main character in the book felt like a stereotype. It was kind of offensive to read, really, and I didn't enjoy it at all. (I was not recommended the book; it was a reading assignment.) I don't know whether it was an accurate depiction of someone on the lower end of the spectrum, but I su...

If anything, I did more pretend play than the average child did---most of my play involved using my imagination, and to this day I enjoy roleplaying and making up extra storylines for video games, books, and movies. I was pretty self-conscious about pretend play, though; I always sought a private pl...

According to the medical forms I've seen, I'm required to provide documentation for every visit to a psychologist I ever made. That doesn't leave a lot of opportunity for it to be overlooked, at least not without me outright lying. While the fact I was mainstreamed and last saw a psychologist many y...

I'm not on medication and never have been. My grades are above average, and I got them while being completely mainstreamed. I'll have a college degree by the time I can enlist. (I won't be able to become an officer, as I won't have citizenship.) Really, besides my lackluster phsyical fitness, I thin...

One thing that could help is if you want a hard to get job such as navy nuke, if you qualify for that (the top job in the military smarts wise) then the recruiters will try to do anything to get you to join, bragging about you and just go the extra effort. Well add is considered disqualifying, but ...

even if you do get undiagnosed the military will find that out when they ask for your medical records. You could lie and say you do not have a medical history, the recruiters will probably ask you to do that (they did for me). But it will probably come out and you would get a dishonorable discharge...

Long story short: I met the criteria for diagnosis as a child. I think that I no longer meet the criteria. Having an official diagnosis is not useful to me because I've never needed any accommodation in school and don't expect to need anything of the sort in the future. But having a diagnosis is har...

I don't lack empathy. I can notice when someone doesn't want to talk about something. I have no problems interpreting facial expressions, and I can make eye contact. I don't have a need for routine or schedules, though I prefer knowing what to expect when going into a foreign situation. I have minor...

I generally like keeping things the same. However, you've got to do what has to be done. I'm pretty flexible, I'd just prefer not having to be flexible.

Well, I think you have a point. However, what people (even medical professionals) often forget is that for it to count as a symptom of a disorder, it has to be problematic in nature. The idea is that while this is a normal faux pas, it is supposedly unusually common in aspies. When people lose sight...

How do you judge the wished for increase of value (Happiness) if it's about concepts as "quality of life" and "social development"? I'm not entirely sure what the question is, but I'll try. At the moment, I'm unhappy because I'm living in a foreign culture. I simply can't focus on much of anything ...
