My vote would go to linguistics, if it was an option. Also the poll could do with options for anthropology, archaeology and sociology. The reason I like linguistics is that I find social sciences a lot more interesting than natural sciences, and linguistics is probably the most quantitative social s...

I'm the same way. There's no particular sort of music I like better.

I wouldn't say the sketch was actually saying that people with mental illnesses are violent. He's just playing on the irony of the situation of a person, who has just talked about the stigma people with mental illnesses face where they are seen as violent, actually going and doing what the stigma sa...

I wasn't. I was very lucky with my school, since it didn't have any culture of bullying. It was not cool to bully people, and anyone who did would have to stop soon because of peer pressure.

I've never been to America, but I have to sort of agree with skafather that from what I've heard online, America seems much more worried about its racial issues than Europe does, if not having less--in Britain we are afraid of talking about this sort of thing.

The Computers, Math, Science and Technology board is pretty dominated by the natural sciences at the moment. I think it would be a good idea to have a separate board for all the social sciences: anthropology, history, linguistics, sociology, etc., since they're barely visible on our main science boa...

I think part of the problem (with PPR) is that it (and the other special-interest boards, although there isn't much room for disagreement on the other ones) has a different sort of purpose from the other boards on WP: in the other boards, people come for support and socialisation, but on PPR, people...

I don't think legislating against veils is the right thing but those veils are certainly repression and an institutionalized misogyny from a pretty damned sexist religion. Honest question: what exactly is so misogynistic about veils? I don't see how the idea that women should cover their bodies to ...

Language. We can't get into the mind of a monkey, so we don't know for sure if they can plan ahead or have emotions or wonder how things work and all that. But we do know for sure that no other species than humans has language. And this isn't something where we cut off the line just before where hum...

I agree with what Willard said--the question can't really be answered because I could not in any possible way be neurotypical; if my brain was replaced with a neurotypical brain I wouldn't consider the person that brain controls the same person that I was before.

I sound like my idol, without trying. As I understand, without being too personal, you do have an English accent, yes? You know, we all should post audio file samples of our speech - I've thought about doing this on the Wrong Planet, just for fun. If your autistic and British you would certainly no...

I don't really care what people call the condition. There are more important issues to deal with. I think the most accurate term is 'disability' though. 'Disability' implies it's not inherently bad, merely something that disadvantages you because the majority of people don't have it. Words like 'dis...

I got 38%, though it was clearly not a serious quiz (e.g. the vast majority of the questions were about social issues--nothing about the power of states and corporations etc. which I usually see as the major dividers in politics).
