It isn't necessarily literal "noise" (in the "internal monologue" sense) but there is always at least one thread of thought running in my brain and usually more than one.

Does your college have a Disability Support Services office or similar? If so, have you talked to them about this?

I think I've seen a noticeable amount of people "peak" in their autistic-ness at puberty, having less visible traits before then, and more coping skills developed after then. I'm not sure if this fits me or not, since my traits were really quite visible when I was a child (e.g. hand-flapping). I th...

Oh oops, sorry about that. I think the main reason was that one was an "Institute of Technology", and the other was an all-around school. I was also surprised that the neurotypes were so different. I studied a science subject, so I had assumed that all the nerds/geeks/dorks in grad school would be ...

Yes, the subject was the same. The Two Towers had very different cultures due to the different neurologies of the dominant populations. One was NT-dominant and pretty much like society at large. One was BAP-dominant and not at all like society at large. Actually, at Tower #1, the BAP/ASD undergrads...

This discussion of giftedness vs. ASD and giftedness plus ASD reminds me of my experiences at the two ivory towers of giftedness that I have attended for school. Tower #1 for college and Tower #2 for grad school.

Why do you think they were so different? Were you studying the same subject?

No ... I'm just concerned that when people diagnose themselves, the next step is self-medication, which often leads to disastrous results. Self-medication? For something that's not generally treated with medication to begin with? I have mixed feelings about self-diagnoses. I think I'd be more again...

How does someone get diagnosed as gifted? Is giftedness a disorder of some sort? I was considered gifted in school, so I guess I am 2e. Rather amusingly I just read a post on Reddit that mentioned 2e and I was wondering what the heck it was, so thanks for answering that, guys! I thought maybe it mea...

Someone asked what the difference is between ADHD style executive dysfunction and autistic style executive dysfunction. Be aware that these are stereotypes and may not hold true for given individuals, but: * poor inhibition - ADHD, this is what they mean by impulsivity * poor planning - both ADHD a...

I'm pretty good at planning, less good at execution.

I have AS and strongly suspect ADHD-I.

I certainly agree that there needs to be more research into the interrelationships between gender, sexuality, and ASD, but I'm not sure if this survey will give an adequate analysis when it comes to gender identity. I agree. I didn't find the questions difficult to answer because I'm a cis male, bu...

I actually like that the possible answers don't include for "degrees" (e.g. always, often, sometimes, never) as that seems to make them less subjective. I also like that it takes past behaviors into account. My score reflects that I've improved my "social relatedness," for example, while not totally...

I'd add:

Making generalizations about neurotypicals is no more fair, valid or useful than making generalizations about autists.
