I was on Effexor back in my teens. Turned me into a complete lunatic who was unusually aggressive, irritable, and outright cruel in my reactions to even the slightest provocation. I'm currently taking Lexapro and Lamictal. Not sure if they're really working. Some days are way up, enough that I think...

I scored 74%, which is kind of surprising, kind of not. I'm in a relationship with an NT right now, but it's kind of disconcerting that much of my natural behavior frequently causes her to feel miserable and shut-in.

This has led me to have real trust issues and I have great difficulty having anything to do with anyone and I certainly dont bother with real life friendships. I suppose it mostly comes down to trust. It sounds contradictory, but in general, I don't care what people think, just the people I want to...

I didn't learn anything yesterday, but I was reminded of how I always seem to say the wrong thing.

Just because people dont have AS, it doesn't mean you're in the wrong or they are *normal*...the hostile message you received and quoted seems thoroughly deranged. TBH, NT thought processes are alien enough, but the seriously disturbed are impossible to fathom. As far as that individual is concerne...

Who else is in this situation a lot? More than a little? I have one friend who is like this. If I'm not in the mood for it, she can be a little overwhelming, but sometimes it's kind of nice just to sit back and listen. She has a good, sick sense of humor, and generally makes an effort to ask involv...

But generally speaking I find that the only thing that actually scares people away is when they pick up on how worried I get. Being panicky and insecure generally doesn't ender yourself to people, they get to thinking being friends with you might be a lot of hard work. Makes sense. I thought this m...

It's often mentioned here on WP that many of us run into situations where we are misinterpreted, but how many of you constantly worry about situations where you say or do the wrong thing, or are perceived in a way that makes no sense to you, and suddenly lose a friend? I ask this because I've notice...

Yes, usually when I'm stressed, or outside smoking. I also pace around the kitchen and obsessively start cleaning, like wiping the counters, usually when I'm upset about something but don't want to get into an argument by speaking up.

Have you tried getting in touch with Roger Meyer there in Portland? (Here's all I can find on the web at the moment: Roger N. Meyer, facilitator, at rogernmeyer@earthlink.net or by phone at 503-666-2776... he has a good website though, but i've misplaced the link...) I haven't, but I'll look into h...

At least you have more assets on the Left Coast than we do here around Chicago... It took me more than 6 months to locate ANYONE who would schedule an adult eval... (plenty for kids, but not for adults). You'd be surprised. A lot of places here in Portland won't see adult patients, and as it is, I ...

I think I need a diagosis. As I mentioned in a different thread, I don't really feel like I have the right to identify myself as an Aspie or talk about myself as one, because despite feeling certain about it, I can't really prove that and don't have an outside, professional perspective to back it up...

Having a name for what I deal with, and an official diagnosis, would be helpful. I'm self-diagnosed and sometimes feel like I don't have the right to refer to myself as an Aspie, because despite my certainty about it, there's still a chance that I'm wrong. It'd be nice to be able to at least talk ab...

could also have to do with my appearance, which would be hilarious if it was. I've been told that I look mean or intimidating. I guess part of that is because I shave my head, but I also tend to walk around with a scowl (light sensitive, so I scrunch my face a lot), and have what's been described a...

Not for me, usually. I actually forget to eat sometimes, and so I wind up drinking coffee and water throughout the day, until I have dinner around 7:30pm. The only time I really start fiending for food is when my stomach is audibly rumbling and telling me to fill it, but I don't get agitated over it...
