Could the reason be because all that seems normal to you because you are on the spectrum yourself? I know it's obvious but I figure that's one of the reasons that many of those on the spectrum are left undiagnosed for so long. ASDs are of course largely genetic and in a family there may be several ...

Social justice, human rights, and peace for all nations are all important to you. While you can't stop war, you try to be as calm and ...

The delayed echolalia is less common for me as an adult. I'll often repeat the last word in a sentence that somebody has spoken to me, for example 'I'm going out to the shops' Me: 'Shops, shops, shops...' etc. It's less common for me to repeat whole sentences but it has been known to happen- particu...

Yeah, it's fairly normal for us if I take what I've seen on the forums. On normal weekdays I regularly get migraines, fatigue and sickness from the sensory overload and the strain of socialising. I'm getting some ear-defenders soon and they will hopefully help. I need to crash too after college- it ...

Does sound sensory orientated- perhaps HFA? If that's LFA than I better get the doctors to diagnose me again...nah, kidding, seriously, from autistic people I have known or met of both types I figure HFA and LFA are more along a spectrum than categorically different- that being a 3D spectrum of cour...

Anxiety and Depression are not uncommon in adults with ASDs too, some variants of the former can mimic some symptoms of schizophrenia but only to a small extent- particulary PTSD - which I have had and which caused me to be 'hyper vigilant' - I always felt that something invisible was out to get me....

My mother's friend has schizophrenia- started hearing voices when she was a kid. Knowing her at first glance I can see why the uninformed might mistake an ASD for that. Some people with ASDs have verbal stims and both me and my cousin 'think out loud', and cannot always help it. Both individuals wit...

I think it'll vary between individuals. Social skills are what a lot of people are most concerned about but for some people the main problem may be sensory, a need for routines or even obsessions. :)

'I feel apathy'? Well, that's one way of being 'sympathetic'. Is having a hidden disorder just too much for him comprehend? Regarding both ADHD and ASDs there is proof within brain scans that we who have the conditions are physically different. If he's talking about poor parenting, well, it's a litt...

While you can be intense at times, you are generally a laid back person. But if a fight comes your way, you will fi...

I suppose at the moment it's the sound and feel of pouring/dropping a small neck chain. I like the pressure of walls, metal and loose thread too. I love the smell of cardboard and warm paper.

As for colour, nothing now. But I had an obsession with orange a couple of months back.

Mine has always been and always will be pacing/running up and down without purpose. xD It freaks everyone else out though. I used to be fond of headbutting people too, until I figured it unacceptable. My current favourite verbal stim sounds somewhat like 'the same, the same, the same etc', and was p...

I've heard it mentioned numerous times outside of autie/aspie circles, for example; in the media, software and computing groups, Child Mental Health services (I still receive services from them but I'm about to move on due to my age).

I doubt Gates really needs a diagnosis. xD

Apart from the pecking order, what you mention here was my biggest discovery in life. I'm ashamed to admit that I discovered this in my mid-forties! And I have to remind myself all the time that people are DOING something with their words, not just expressing what's in their hearts/minds. Our boss ...
