rFactor - testing at Riverside. Aw man, used to have that game. Never was that good at it, never had a proper setup (steering wheel etc.) - I just used a Saitek game controller (PS4 style) and pretty much stopped playing when the controller died. But used to have loads of fun downloading cars and t...

I got it initially because my wife wanted to watch Hamilton. Mainly keeping it these days for the Star Wars TV series that they've done (Mandalorian, Fett, etc.), all of which I've enjoyed. Also I always like the "live" Muppets stuff that they have. But they don't really come out with enou...

I'll say I enjoyed it. Hardly the greatest thing I've ever seen on TV, but I was entertained. For reference I've never read Tolkien and except for the original Peter Jackson trilogy I really have no knowledge of the whole universe at all.

Forum: Art, Writing, and Music   Topic: Why do musicians choose synthesizers over real instruments?

For one thing, some synthesizer sounds do not sound like fake versions of real instruments at all but still sound good and can add something unique. And even those sounds that are designed to sound like real instruments but still sound fake can be good in their own way - I mean for better or worse f...

I don't think it will change much at all: 1) Political views - actors/actresses and other celebrity types have been expressing political views for decades. Its never hurt Hollywood, or Hollywood has succeeded despite it in any case. I don't think they will stop during or after the crisis, and I don'...

Where I live I can use Amazon Fresh to order delivery from Whole Foods. The outbreak caused me to try this the other day and the results were disappointing - they simply cancelled some items and everything else they didn't cancel, they rather arbitrarily replaced with 'similar' items that I didn't r...

So I am in California where as of last night we are on lock down over the virus. And, obviously, pandemics are terrible, I don't want people to get sick or die, but it feels like for an autistic, as terrible as it is, there could be a silver lining... Like many of you, I think in a lot of ways I am ...

I thought Joker was a meh movie - watched it recently because of all the Oscar hype. Joaquin Phoenix is the real deal in the movie and for sure deserves the best actor nom and even the award. Beyond that, though, I don't think it did anything else particularly well enough to deserve all the praises ...

Was sorry to hear of his passing back when it happened. I thought he was a great artists. Faith was IMHO a tremendously good song, and of course Careless Whisper is timeless. Also the bit he did for the Little Britain charity special was bloody awesome.

Just finished The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. Wanted to actually read it since wanted to read her new sequel The Testaments which I plan to do soon. Found it to be largely like season 1 of the show (no surprise) with enough differences to keep it interesting. Not sure if its a book I would h...

Rise of Skywalker - Far from a perfect movie, but I quite liked it. I would go so far as to say it was the best of these three movies but I could see an argument for Force Awakens being the best of the three. To me, after the original Star Wars trilogy, the best Star Wars movie is Rogue One. Harriet...

I've started watching it but am only five episodes in. So far I really like it - it sort of has a Babylon 5-esque feel to me that I like - there's even a "Mr. Garibaldi" character, while being a bit more gritty.

I don't think you need to memorize multiplication tables past 9. Its nice to be able to do something like 6 x 973 in your head, but most people can't and still do just fine with math. So just memorize 0-9 and you can do multiplication of larger numbers by writing down the calculations with pen and p...

Recently saw

a) Harriet - pretty good movie, amazing story about an amazing woman, though a bit embellished

b) Ford vs. Ferrari - rather liked it, quite a bit better than I thought it would be

c) Last Christmas - pretty forgettable

Yes, been listening to her (unknowingly at the time) since she did the track Destiny with Zero 7 many years ago, also the Different Gear remix of her song Drink To Get Drunk. More recently I think Titanium is a great song, but the Chandelier one IMHO got way too overplayed on the radio to the point ...
