Vuvuzelas. My husband and I stopped at a local bar for lunch between classes and, at first, I thought my tinnitus had taken on a new buzz. When I mentioned it to my husband he pointed to the TV playing the World Cup competitions. It must be hell to actually be in the stadium. Do they ever take the t...

Oh dear! Its taken me quite a while to pinpoint the particular style of music I want to play on my fiddle. I can listen to other fiddle styles but I'm not drawn to play them myself. That means a lot to me. If I'm not drawn to actually play a particular kind of music, its of the other than me isn't it.

I have been thinking about doing a raw food type of diet thing. Mainly becuase I have to get my cholestrol under control. Instead of switching over totally to a diet of raw food, I usually suggest people start integrating the recipes into their regular diet. I suppose that's assuming on my part tha...

A goodly percentage of my diet is raw, usually in the form of "green smoothies" made from leafy greens in my 30+ year old Vitamix. Yeah, I've been at this for quite a while. I'm with ouinon on the dangers of too many fruits. Yeah, we're all out of Africa if we look back far enough but my people cont...

why have a vinyl shower curtain? :? Because they might be more fashionable and less expensive than most canvas shower curtains and tend not to mildew as easy? I've found if we wipe down the shower walls, remember to keep our canvas shower curtain spread until dry, and run it through the washer at l...

The only brand I can use now is Bounce Free (Bounce outdoor fresh too - though it's so strong I only use that if the store is out of the Free). why use dryer sheets at all? :? unless you know its 100% natural and safe, wouldnt 1st hand exposure to easily avoidable chemicals possibly risk developing...

My question, however, is whether it is available to the general public as a houseplant, or otherwise cultivatable plant? Where would I get it? I don't really like handing my money over to the man unless I really really have to. Valerian is a perennial. It grows about 4 feet tall or so and is rather...

Lets suppose the USA government did set up some sort of opportunity for the elderly to receive some sort of guidance in reviewing their options for life and/or death with dignity, that's a far cry from a private health insurance company telling a person that they refuse to cover the costs of a medic...

I play fiddle. The type of music I play tends not to use drums but should someone start clapping their hands in time with the music, that clapping becomes the sum total of all I can hear and my ears start to feel as if they'll explode. Ear plugs help a bit if I'm in the audience but if I'm actually ...
My magic migraine cocktail is 1 gram of Aspirin (3 regular strength tablets) and 50 mg of Benadryl. It works every time. The benadryl has an anti-anxiety effect which relieves the tension in my head
Yeah, the antihistamine in Benadryl can make some peop...

A couple years ago the mantra "let stupid people be stupid" occurred to me. It took me a couple years to actually put that mantra to actual use. The reality of the matter is, when someone says something I don't agree with I need to recognize that what they have said is an opportunity for insight int...

Thanks for all of the advice. I know they aren’t good for my health that is why I’m trying to cut back and eventually stop altogether. Part of the reason I got hooked in the first place is because I have some insomnia problems and am always somewhat tired. But I think coffee would be a better optio...

Check out food intolerance/allergy. Hmmm, I've been kind of wondering that although no obvious pattern of I-eat-X-and-get-a-migraine emerges. So far they are more stress triggered than anything else. If you think your migraines are stress triggered, try to notice how you've been holding your body i...

Valerian is best used in instances where people are stuck in same old same old patterns because it can really inspire weird dreams. Passion flower is a better choice if nightmares are a problem. As has already been mentioned, if you're already on medications, check with a pharmacist to see if there ...

If I understand what everyone here is saying, only a small number of us here enjoy music enough to make it ourselves.

The rest of the people here make no attempt to actually make music.

They only use the music other people make

and they use it as a noise to block out the world.

Here's hoping the movie at least makes it to DVDs. For the past couple years I've been trying to inspire the local Neopagans to have have a Border side. They keep telling me Morris Dance isn't Pagan but a lot of things that aren't strictly Pagan passes as Pagan compatible these days. I'm thinking dr...
