I have found this discussion quite interesting. My son was diagnosed with AS at seven years old, though he had presented symptoms since he was a toddler. I remember a co-worker saying, "I'd think he was autistic if he didn't talk and communicate so well." He did communicate, but always on his terms...

My DD was born after forty hours of grueling back labor. I was determined (stupdily) to do it "naturally" without meds! What a sicko we are when we are young! My DD came out in total shock with her cord wrapped several times around the neck, blue, and wide eyed and ready to go. My parents couldn't ...

She's my ex-wife now. :o Sorry, I should have made that more clear. But we get along well and are trying to patch things up... :) Our son's diagnosis has been hardest on her because she was so sensitive to him from the beginning. I was out to lunch most of the time. I think many of us who have chil...

Just wondering if your Aspie was colicky, late talker, had phobias in infancy, and/or traumatic labor/births? My DD had huge hematoma, I was in labor (back labor unmedicated) for forty hours with emotional trauma at the same time. Wondering if anyone else had similiarities? Also my baby didn't talk...

Anyone remember Aaron Pratt? A higher functioning autie on a CSI episode that involved the poisoning of a co-worker with ricin. I remember that episode. Wasn't he the suspected killer who is exonerated when he helps prove it was a woman in the museum who "done it?" I seem to remember poisoned leave...

This is really cool! How did you come to discover this language? Just part of my general Seattle obsession, because it was the language spoken around that part of the world before white settlers arrived, and now some of the remaining local Indian tribes are trying to revive it. There's a great site...

You bring out the biggest difficulty for Aspies (as I understand it from my AS son)--while NTs typically don't have to think too much about reading the body language or what to say for that matter, Aspies do. I imagine it to be like a first time visitor to New York trying to catch a subway train. B...

My parents say that my constant joint cracking is going to make me get arthritis. I tell them over and over there is no evidence that joint cracking does cause arthritis. Then they complain about the noise it makes and how gross it is. I find it very soothing. I love the way my joints feel when the...

The two people that identify themselves as Asperger's adults are: 1) Jerry on Boston Legal (he's been mentioned already) 2) a new female doctor on Grey's Anatomy. She is probably in her 40's with long dark brown hair. She was trying to decide if she wanted to join the staff but was not happy that pe...

How about Dr. Spencer Reid on Criminal Minds? yes we had that: The thin nerdy smart guy on Criminal Minds You forgot to mention that he's cute too! I don't watch it so no idea who's the cute one though ;p Dr. Reid is pretty clearly an Asperger's adult I think. He reminds me so much of my so...

Prof. Henry Higgins? (Pygmalion/My Fair Lady) I can see that. He was somewhat obsessive and then also clueless when it came to feelings. That's a regular professor. The Asperger ones are REALLY different... I think I had an Asperger professor in seminary. He had his own world. He was a walking ency...

Anne of Green Gables with the actress Megan Follows Mr. Rogers from Mr. Rogers Neighborhood Some people mentioned Hank Hill, but what about Peggy Hill? She seems every bit of AS as Hank does. Actually so do a lot of other characters on that show. The Professor from Gilligans Island It's been a lot ...

That Christopher kid from 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time' For sure. I've read that book, it is incredible how you can see that guy as AS. Must be one of the most famous books with the main character and the main theme on Asperger's Syndrome. But it isn't clearly marked that "Chr...

Well, I just got a package from my grandma... she sent me size 18 clothing. Getting warmer, but still two sizes to go! Naturally it was all polyester and acrylic. Sigh. I will of course send the requisite thank-you note and letter... I do like her, really I do. But she'd probably feel bad if she co...
