I don't think you can expect staff at the job centre to understand aspergers - it's too complicated. I think you'd be better off finding someone who does understand it and talking through your work situation with them, even though they can't help you directly. Then you can go back with more specific...

I just worry that to someone who doesn't share your beliefs, you might sound a bit mental. After all, the behavior of Atos and the lack of media coverage are bad things in their own right, regardless of what might happen in the future.

I just googled "Aktion T-4." Don't you think you're over-reacting a little?

The word 'chicken' exists to distinguish between chickens and other animals. That is, between one line of descent and all the others. You can't use it to distinguish between adjacent members within a line of descent. There never was a time when a non-chicken had a chicken child. On the other hand, a...

I couldn't do it even if I wanted to. I really don't see the point of it, not because I think it's bad necessarily, but because I really don't get what people are doing. And it's boring. I suspect most people find it dull but put up with it and join in so that when they've got something really juicy...

Fair dos. Myself, I want to be able to interact with the average person with confidence, for practical reasons mostly. After all, I'm a human being too.

BTW, remember to check out that book if you're interested.

I don't really follow you mate, sorry. I don't understand what "expressions are art" means for example. I never said anything was a fantasy, so I don't know what you mean by that. What does "Then it starts..." mean? Also, do you understand what I'm saying? About the importance of interpretation in ...

It's difficult because you're not seeing anything at all. It's all invisible. I don't know ahead of time how someone is going to interpret what I say so sometimes I'm rude without meaning to be. And how can you really know someone unless you understand how they understand your words/actions? Commun...

I think that's rude - I wouldn't do it.

Can you read upside-down? That'd stop the b*****ds.

Psiri What about understanding that other people understand that you have thoughts etc. Or understanding that someone else understands that other people have thoughts etc. Theory of mind can get very complicated in groups of people. Yes what about it? Is it overly difficult to see that a person is ...

My impression is that "theory of mind" can mean two slightly different things: 1 - Understanding that other people have their own thougts, emotions, ideas, etc 2 - Understanding what that thougts, emotions, ideas, etc are (in this meaning, is more or less the same thing as "cognitive empathy") Ther...

I liked that. Got it completely wrong, the same as wavefreak. I just assumed that because both Sam and Tom knew where the balloons were, Tom would go there.

1. Born 1980, diagnosed age 27. 2. Got to university but couldn't cope with independent living and the heavy social demands. Turned to drink and drugs. Kept dropping in and out over a five year period and left without a degree. Longest I've held down a job is 9 months. 3. Was elated when I found out...
