Scientists are beginning tests to see if ultrasound can be used as a reversible contraceptive for men. Based on early work, University of North Carolina experts believe a blast of ultrasound to the testes can safely stop sperm production for six months. With a grant of $100,000 from the Bill & ...

So out of every seventeen pounds of food given to Australia's food bank, one of those will be pineapple.

(I'm sure they'll be sick of pineapple by the end of the year.)

The trick, though, is that he has to recognize what the other person is feeling first. If he doesn't recognize that another person is suffering, then naturally he won't have any empathy. That's true, although the oxytocin is supposed to help with that. The treatment might potentially be useful, but...

A recent study found that an oxytocin nasal spray made men more empathetic, and more capable of learning from positive social feedback. Some of the immediate implications are in mental disorders where people become withdrawn and reclusive, most immediately schizophrenia, but they're also thinking it...

An oil rig drilling off the Louisiana Coast exploded just over a week ago, and now they're saying that they believe oil has already hit Louisiana shores. Louisiana's fishing industry depends a lot on shrimp and oysters, and the sea-life off Louisiana's coast will soon be worthless. They're already p...

Thank you for the support. It really helps. BTW. what did you mean by: The only thing that seems to keep me going is a set of pipe dreams, hoping to do something significant, that will gain instant notoriety. Take care. I have a few ideas, but I'm not sure how they'll pan out. It mostly gives me som...

I've been through a lot over the past few years, and it's difficult to maintain contact with anyone. It seems that I can be either noticed and ostracized, or stay quiet, and be little more than ghost. The funny thing is that I'm starting to get used to it. Public places stress me out more and more e...

I think we should apply Occam's razor wherever we can. If we dont need aliens to explain ancient history than why bring them into the equation? Having said that, there is no known physical reason why Earth cant have been visited by advanced aliens in the past. In fact i would have been highly surpr...

I've had a lot of trouble with this personally, and I'm sure it's a really common issue. I found that one of my biggest obstacles was a family constantly trying to change who I was, and pushing me into doing things I simply wasn't comfortable with. Being disowned by my mother, and learning to hate h...

I've found that women are a lot easier to get along with, and part of that is because their aggression is far more subtle. Sometimes I just don't pick up on it, and people probably misread it as confidence. In other cases it's just the complete change of expectations, compared to socializing with ot...

My mother has hurled abuse at me for a long time. One of the repetitive things she did was to compare me to a 40 year old man with drug problems, no job, no money, and say I was just like him. Sometimes she would say I was worse. I ended up moving in with my grandparents while still in high school, ...

I can do with or without, as long as the noise doesn't have a rhyme or reason. It's part of the reason I function just fine in a busy bowling alley, but can't handle people talking in the library. (Yeah, it's easier for me to do work at a busy bowling alley than the local library...)

I'm a guy, and that pretty much describes what I find different about myself when compared to other Aspies. Maybe these differences aren't due to male/female differences, and are more accountable to a variation of autism which hasn't yet been picked up? It would make sense. There are several variati...
