Wow, PSPD sounds exactly like me, hehe. Maybe that's what my problem is... (posted at almost 4am, lol). |

I have long spindly fingers that have always been called 'piano fingers' by my family. I see no reason why a person with AS can't learn keyboard/piano. I have Dyspraxic tendencies and am very clumsy with poor fine motor control. However, I type very fast and can play some piano/keyboard. I believe t... |

I simply cannot sleep until I'm literally too exhausted to stay awake. My eyes have to be closing of their own accord, at which point I could then sleep anywhere, regardless of where I am. It usually happens quite suddenly, which leads me to fall asleep in the early hours of the morning on a regular... |

This sounds a lot like me. I go through 'phases' where I can sleep 18 hours a day and have no energy for anything at all, as well as being super-spaced-out and disconnected from everything and disoriented.
The only thing that doesn't match up is the hypersexuality.
Iiiinteresting. |

'Yay'? Are congratulations in order? I've never really understood the need to show off/brag about an official diagnosis. I see no reason to be proud of it, anymore than I'd be 'proud' of having an x-ray confirm that I had a fractured shin. It would merely explain the pain I had. Equally, I don't fee... |

40 *shrug* I do have a dx, but I think most of those answers could just as easily apply to a less sociable and more detail-oriented NT. |

It describes the sensory problems, at least, even if not the entire state of being. |

Why are all the answers in the poll so angry and negative? Can't you see a plus side to having prior knowledge of your child's condition? I think it would be a great idea for parents to know in advance what kind of special care their child might need, and to be given time to research and prepare for... |

Bear in mind that a lot of the problems faced by those with an ASD are perpetuated by factors that are removed when conversing online. For example, there is no body language to worry about, no eye-contact to maintain, and there is plenty of time to consider a reply rather than the pressure of face-t... |

I think it's strange that anyone would think that if someone is an Aspie, they're somehow incapable of being a dick to other people. They come in all shapes, all sizes. Indeed. In fact, given that probematic social skills are supposedly the crux of our condition, isn't it perhaps even more likely t... |

What are you talking about? My avatar is a picture of me :P Seriousy though, I'm not ashamed or embarrassed of my 'IRL' appearance. I just like to use a pic of a character that I identify strongly with. It didn't really occur to me to use a photo of me... I've always used icons based on my interests... |

I was first tested (WAIS) when I was 6 years old. I wasn't given a disability label then, because even though there was a huge discrepancy between my verbal and performance IQ, my verbal IQ was extremely high and my performance was below average but not enough to warrant intervention. In fact, I was... |

I just discovered Cheesly garlic and herb vegan/dairy-free cheese. It is DELICIOUS. Which is a huge relief, because Tofutti vegan/dairy-free cheese is gross. |

When you start comparing outward manifestations rather than symptom sources/causes, of course many things seem alike. But it's entirely superficial. There is no real comparison. You might as well say that a man stabbed in the chest has parallels with a man having a heart attack because both have che... |
