I am a determinist as well. To have free will, we would need to have had control over what "allows" our choices from which we would willfully choose. We do not control our parents, genes, country of origin, religious upbringing etc. All of those shape who we are, impulse control, educabili...

I am both a psychologist and an adult HF aspie (folks say I have one foot in and one foot out - lol). Luckily my niche interest is human behavior and cognition. That said, a 30 point difference in verbal versus performance IQ is not typical of most children. Of more relevance (in my opinion) is whet...

In addition to my neurological atypicality, I am a school psych, and I work in the clinical setting too. So while this is not formal advice/therapy, and so on, here are some suggestions that I hope you find helpful 1) Schools have an obligation to address behaviors, traits, or weaknesses that have a...

My Dad once said to me that he is happier to study humans than he is to be human. We find the social behaviours of others interesting, but we don't really like interacting with people to a large degree. We prefer to learn about things, take things apart and fix things. Things are interesting. Peopl...

depends on
1) insight - how aware are you of your needs/differences/deficits?
2) motivation - do you want to change them,
3) knowledge - do you know how to do it differently?

regardless of your own gender (how you feel, not what you physically are), this sounds as though it is largely a function of self-perception and body acceptance. sorting out the cognitions and thoughts you have, as they relate to the feelings you have will likely bring about a much great sense of ac...

let me clarify, most NT people are not acting like they normally would when they first meet others. they are on their best behavior. they are more engaged in social monitoring, watching for nonverbal and verbal cues from others. Many asd folks do not do this when first meeting others. they may even ...

i think you are wondering how many people actually meet the diagnostic criterion... and that is a subtly but significantly different question than how many of us have the traits and tendencies that distinguish us from naturally and spontaneously thinking, feeling, behaving, communicating, and social...
