I laughed at this one, thanks! But at the same time I realised this was not what I meant with my poll question. So I just clarified the poll question further.

I've always thought that Aspies can't make jokes in conversations - but maybe that's just because of the fact that I can't make jokes. I can laugh at other people's jokes (provided I'm aware it's a joke) but other than that I'm always very serious. Very, very occasionally people laugh at me because ...

I really love hiking in my vacation. But I still don't know whether I prefer hiking alone or hiking with other people. I've tried both ways. On the one hand I'd rather hike alone so that I don't need to talk all the time. But on the other hand when being alone I'm starting to feel really lonely afte...

In my opinion the concept of 'intelligence' or 'IQ score' is quite meaningless. I came to this conclusion after having done an IQ test myself. I have a good university education while my IQ is merely average and initially I was very disappointed about this. But the reason for my mediocre result was ...

Fear of not passing the AS test is one of the two reasons (probably the more important reason) why I don't feel like being diagnosed. It's a mixed result of getting knowledge of this subject. On the one hand I really know - at the least - that I have quite some AS traits. On the other hand I may get...

Interesting view. What do you mean by 'personality'? Is it in your opinion something you choose for, or which may be influenced by social factors? If this is what you mean, I tend to disagree. Or is personality something you're born with? If this is what you mean, I still don't understand why one wo...

I do not really know of course. But from what I read, not just in this tread but in general, it seems to me as if all differences (not just within Autism but also between Autism and NT) are only gradual and not fundamental. Perhaps every individual human being (i) can be characterised by the followi...

I've been asking myself the same question. I've got a health insurance so cost is no problem for me. There's something else that prevents me from going to a doctor which you may regard as a 'wrong' reason. The fact is, my recent discovery of Asperger and the recognition of myself in it has a comfort...

I got the WrongPlanet golf shirt last fall and I wear it frequently in public. I keep waiting for some member of the WP who I may potentially come in contact with somewhere to see it and say "Hi, I belong to the WP too." (with over 24,000 members the liklihood of coming in contact with a member is ...

I would not wear one, as I don't like the logo, and don't want to be thought of that way by someone. I would be more comfortable openly talking about my AS than wearing the shirt. Agree completely here. Although it's meant otherwise, the logo seems to suggest that an Aspie is a weirdo, while I'd ra...

Meanwhile, last week, I emailed two people whom I can trust about my suspicion of having Asperger. One responded "you should see a GP", so I suppose he meant he couldn't judge, and dismissed the subject immediately. The other person emailed back that I couldn't have AS since it is related to ADHD wh...

I guess I'm always trying to have an NT-type of conversation. But there's a couple of things that I'm really not able to - which probably are a vital part of this type of conversation - e.g. I can't make funny remarks and I can't tell everyday life stories.

Hi MegaAndy, In the end that's exactly what I mean. But here the doubt starts: suppose it works for me like: focus on my own preoccupations > lack of practising social skills > social anxiety would that imply that I can't put "Asperger >" before it? I mean, I'd be fine with that conclusion, but I th...

Although I'm still not (entirely) sure of being an Aspie, I can tell you this much: 1. One positive thing that I see about having discovered the existence of AS last week and getting here on this forum is that I've been thinking about myself for a whole week, and that's something that I hadn't reall...

After having been on this forum for a week I've got the impression is that nobody, neither us nor doctors really understand what Asperger is. There seems to be a cause - namely a neurological cause (X). And certain symptoms (Y1, Y2, Y3 etc.) seem to correlate with each other and seem to corre...

I'm at 40% too.

For the far majority of questions I have no clue which of my answers count as 'normal' and which ones don't.

Do you know?
