I came here to post my sobriety status: 271 days. Taking it a day (sometimes, by the hour, and sometimes, by the second) at a time. No alcohol for 271 days. I don't smoke anything or do any drugs, either. Stress and social life are still rough, but I'm learning to cope and develop skills without alc...

I know the feeling. It's a vicious circle I haven't figured out to break yet. 1. feel alone/or confident -> 2. try hard and fake it -> 3. get a (false) connection (with a friend, or work or "the world") -> 4. finally break down/show myself -> 5. lose connection -> 6. try to get over it/make myself ...

<--- Doesn't give a toss about fashion, either. <--- Can care less about what people think. *Can't care less? ;) Consider your tone of voice or facial expression with your words. If I ask a question that ends in a low pitch, then my family assumes I'm mocking them, but I'm genuinely asking for thei...

Before I answer...

If you don't mind sharing some insight from the other side: From the male's perspective, what are some negative meanings of putting a female friend into the "friendzone"?

And how long have you known this female friend?

Oh, and my therapist, too!! 8) Whenever two people meet, there are six identities present. Each person as they see themselves, each person as they see the other, and each as they really are. - Robert Burns, more or less. I may not agree with someone's impression or opinion of me, but it is real for ...

Any updates from alex on this? I came into WrongPlanet.net Discussion specifically for discussion on a site re-design. Any chance you want a free design helper, alex? I'd be happy to volunteer design or development. I like the register/log-in box at the top, nice and bold. I'm kind of glad you kept ...

SydneySputnik hit it right on the mark... 8)

You've got this, man, and don't let a few dates get you down. You've got the ability to attract them. Not many guys have that ability.

What do you think might be the case, Stargazer43?

Only my dad. Maybe my grandma (she's my mom figure), but she just takes "the real me" as rudeness, so I do end up having to put up a façade for her often. :?

Just my two bitcoins, Maybe they're looking for something else? It might be something non-verbal, is my guess. It could be facial expressions, body language, even the way you speak. I don't know! Something that you don't make clear "on paper," or online chat, might be something more prominent and it...

I miss the early Internet years like there ain't no tomorrow. My story relates to some here. I began using a computer (computer games and productivity tools) in the mid-'90s. My family set our internet up in maybe '98 or '99. I still have my first-and-only AOL address. I developed an early affinity ...

For me, it's sound. I grew up sensitive to higher-pitched noise, and particularly unexpected abruptions, for example, bodily sounds, dinnerware clinking, dishes clinking, sniffles, breathing, picking at something/ biting at something, chewing/nibbling, swallow/gulp, slurps, abrupt sounds in mechanic...

What was more interesting was the paper work. We have 30 year old paper eval from the state. And she was listed as high level autistic. The behavior they listed is *exactly* what my young daughter is doing. After a year of therapy my wife was discharged as "near normal." Makes me wonder if they jus...

Sometimes, regarding context and subtext, I feel like I have the mind of an oblivious child. Unless I've made effort to study the meaning of a phrase, figure of speech, word, tone of voice, facial expression or body language, then my mind doesn't naturally pick it up. Somehow most/all of my friends ...

NT's like to say "Well, I'll let you get going..." even though what they really mean is frequently "you're're going to let me get going because I'm done with this conversation." ^ This! Sorry to interrupt the thread with a question... but is there a dictionary of common phrases that people use, whi...
