Luke: You're all over the place. I've read this entire thread twice and have come away with very few positive claims on your part. What I've taken as your positive claims amounts to, basically: 1: Supernatural explanations that confirm your worldview are more likely than natural explanations that su...

Darwinian evolution is largely based on national selection, which is an unintentional form of competition. However, we have things like families and symbiotic relationships as well. Do you think it would be possible to eliminate conflict, or reduce it to say, a game, in the human world? There is ac...

Also: why conjure dead fish? I can understand conjuring food and I understand that bread, by itself, doesn't supply as much nutrition as a meal of bread and fish but we're talking about magically conjuring food, here. There's no obvious reason that Jesus, being god and able to conjure food, chose to...

Indeed that is quite appalling! Of all the things to worry about in a world full of genocidal dictators, neglected tropical diseases, sexism and famine, why choose someone's gender to get all worked up about! I didn't know asking a question was "getting worked up". I could say something very snappy...

I'd like to have seen inside that basket that Jesus fed the multitudes with. I know the feeling. Such an amazing secret seems so tantalizing. What would you really expect to see, though? Loaves of bread and fish that continually regenerate when pieces are taken from them? A swirling vortex or brigh...

Reality is relative. No, just our perception of it. This is one of those things that is impossible to prove (although I have a hypothetical test that involves a handgun) I prefer to believe in objective reality as it makes human endeavor meaningful What kind of questions did you plan to ask the han...

I took a look at the other thread that keeps getting mentioned and I must say, when someone is offended that other people point out the imaginary quality of their imaginary friend, it's only "being a dick" when that person is 5. Getting mad over being told there's no Santa, as an adult, is just sill...

Or was it just that they were being dicks about it? bingo. Yeah. For some reason, when we're dicks about stuff, people get a bit turned off. Just remember that different people, being different, by definition, have differing sensibilities and are offended by different things. Some of us are offende...

Our justice system is flawed, confusing, and downright silly? I'm surprised. :)

Yes, I would love to have see inside the basket that Jesus fed the multitude with. What was going on inside there? Could you see what was happening? Not that the basket itself was special, just what it was used for. That's the kind of stuff I would enjoy, or when Moses struck the rock and the water...

Anytime an interesting discussion between believers begins, someone that doesn't believe drops in to tell us how stupid and backward we are, and if our god did exist, they would want to know him anyway. Just let us have our discussion, without telling us how you can see there is nothing there, and ...

Before you call me a freak, today I was at a meeting of Christians and Catholics who are...well I can't say the rest. We read passages from Peter 1 and Romans 10. Everyone had a Bible, except me. I am considering taking an English class for Winter Term that focuses on the Good Book as literature. S...

This scare tactic was already debunked unless you are considering abortions to be birth control. This has no affect on the morning after pill or things of that nature. Actually the Mississipi law isn't affected by Roe V. Wade, and is in fact the achilles heel of Roe v. Wade. Also this would make on...
