Ignore your dissenters, they don't have the capacity to understand the truth anyway; throw crumbs to your supporters, they will be the fodder on which to build your foundation and raise your indisputable truth higher. Yeah, I think I've got it now. Indeed. Greentea, you can't keep ignoring your dis...

Yeah, "everyone goes through it" is a totally throwaway comment. I think the motivation for it is that It saves the person who said it from having to treat you as an individual, and listen to your personal experiences. I agree. Kinda like when they use that BS line about how if somebody is being na...

Part of dealing with it is in overall confidence, I think. For me, figuring out if someone is joking about something can be really stressful, but a large part of that is because I'm so insecure in myself that I can feel stupid easily, and it will be upsetting if I'm wrong. Kris has "default" respons...

I try pretty hard to keep my words accurate. I knew another guy who was very similar - it does seem to annoy some people....one lady accused him of "hiding behind the facts" :lmao: I can't believe somebody actually said that. Well, I can but in that sad don't-want-to-believe-it type way. It'...

I'm sorry but, the pure hatred I hear on this site towards NT people is really starting to piss me off. There are so many things in this world we can't understand, but one rule I go by is "different isn't bad, different isn't evil, different is just different". It's not the site in genera, it's jus...

I have been on Chlorpromazine 15 months and I dont think I have Aspergers anymore, I was diagnosed with aspergers in 2007, I think I have psychotic anxiety which is treatable and I never had Aspergers in the first place, I also have read about people who have got better on Risperidone. If you belie...

I have been accused of trying to prove everyone wrong or trying to prove myself right, but I really just try to find the facts. Were you accused of that by people who wanted to make baseless statements and were annoyed that you made it more difficult? Oh, the horror! You forced them to (gasp!) actu...

This whole thing assumes that nobody ever actually likes the groups that they're part of. Somebody who cooks dinner for their extended family every week might enjoy having their family together, might like knowing that at the end of every week they'll have a nice dinner with the people they love, it...

I know this doesn't work for all obsessions, but it's also helpful to go at it from an assembly-required angle. Like Kris doesn't buy computers, he buys computer parts . He gets the incredible deal on the Xeon processor, then later on the amazing graphics board, etc, and then even after he's gotten ...

I just had a funny scenario in my head which was loosely based on a true story: I see this guy and notices his big silver ring and then comment how great it looks on him. He says: "Thankyou hun, it's my engagement ring! My wife proposed to me just last tuesday for our wedding. I'm so excited! Now I...

One thing to do is try to channel some of the obsession into finding awesome deals on the stuff. Like I've been totally obsessed with sewing and fabric lately, so I've been scouting around for crazy deals. (And I have no freaking clue what I'm going to DO with the dupioni silk that I got for $2.00/...

I remember awhile ago, you posted (I'm pretty sure it was you anyway.. I remember the post, but it was awhile ago and I'm sure I couldn't find it if I went looking now..) about how all the other mothers seemed to already be friends, and you didn't know how to get in and start talking to them and get...

You can be friends with somebody and still not be able to live with them. Not being able to live with somebody means nothing but that you can't live with that person. Sometimes it can be because you have too many similarities. On the positive side, Kate told Jane it was because I was a genius with a...

Doesn't everyone prefer the company of pets to family? Otherwise, why have pets? To keep you company without being.. people! You choose to live with pets.. most people don't choose to live with their families! Your pets don't judge you, you can act however you like around them, wear whatever you lik...

I cannot make small talk. I've hated it with a passion ever since the first time my mother explained to me what it was. I suppose I hated it before that, I just didn't know that pointless talking had a name. I hate, hate, hate the entire concept that I'm supposed to talk even when I don't have anyth...
