| Hospital workers aren't allowed to reveal any medical information about someone. However, in case of family (especially parents) exceptions are made and even if no one does it on purpose, mistakes are made. | Well, the name came from the guy who discovered it: Hans Asperger. I'm not personally offended by it, I even consider buying a T-shirt with the text "I have Aspergers. What's your excuse?". | If you think you can pull through, do it. It sounds like a good opportunity to learn about communication. And if you're an aspie that's probably an area where you can use help. For you it's free, you learn stuff and you score some points with your boss. So please go if you can. |

| The problem is caused by people following protocol. And that's what hospital staff is trained to do: follow the appropriate protocol. In this case a live may have been lost by sending the appropriate help. On the other hand, that same protocol has saved many lives, and you don't know if the ER staff... |

No, AS is not curable. You can however learn to live with it, so if that's what you mean by treatable then 'yes'. You can get better understanding of other people, but don't expect much. You can't rewire your own brain.
I live in the Netherlands, so I don't know about your insurance. |
