College is great! I'm a Biology and Mathematics major and I'm taking awesome classes. I had a lot of trouble making friends my first year here. My second year I made friends but they got expelled for doing drugs. This year I made a couple of good friends, and most of them are drug-free so no chance ...

I know this is weird, but I feel like I hear worse if my glasses are off. I just think it might be one of my psycho-things I do, like I can't see sh*t so I just give up on my sense entirely until I am able to see again. I'm only really touch sensitive all though my hearing and sense of smell are bet...

brittany89: You writing is very neat, and the slant of it looks a lot like the slant of my neat handwriting. Somehow, doing a lot of math makes my handwriting neater. thanks, i have a semi-script handwriting going on, it's usually neater than that example though. some people have difficulty reading...

Eh, I have hyperthyroidism. I never get my period and I never get tired. It's actually quiet bad because it increases the risk of uterus cancer. What happened was my DHEA-s was high last year and DHEA-s is suspected to cause hypertyroidism. The DHEA-s was because I was super-stressed/anxiety which c...

to be honest, I didn't even know there was a label for people who aren't on the spectrum until I was on this board. I find labeling everyone who isn't on the spectrum a bit ridiculous. I don't think anyone is "neurotypical." A "typical" wiring of neurons isn't exactly an easy thing to define as ever...

I have AS, and I believe I have an APD even though its not been diagnosed. I do better with text and cannot interpret information given to me orally, pretty much at all. It's pretty bad. I'm not sure if this is related, but I have a hard time figuring out the spelling of a word when I type because I...

I don't understand how NTs can associate touch with comfort. I recently had a teacher lay her hand on my shoulder and say, "It'll work out." Of course, it took all my strength not to scream from the contact. I hate being touched. Once she turned her back, I brushed off her residue, effectively "cle...

I don't understand the obsession with shoes either, all shoes look pretty ugly to me and you wear them on your feet and they get dirty so who cares? I don't understand make-up either. It just seems like such a hassle and it's uncomfortable to wear. It makes me face feel greasy when I do wear it (lik...

Hi Laura, I'm a Junior in college right now, Mathematics major. I had some of the same concerns, but it's really not so bad. A lot of people in college and working adults are more understanding of any shyness/awkwardnss/whatever than high school kids. I would just relax and not think of your situati...

After all, it's a fairly reasonable justification for being depressed - trapped in a world full of people who keep saying they live by principles you have no understanding of, and who keep telling you that you just have to snap out of it - you're as good as the rest of them and it's just your attit...
