I have always had very little patience with people. Strangely, I can wait for my turn or for a package without an issue, but I do not have patience in discussions, and when waiting for people to understand something I'm explaining.

Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: To the undiagnosed aspies: Is diagnosis important to you?

It was very important to me to have a diagnosis. I wanted a professional's opinion, as well as to see the results of extensive testing. I also found out, from a family member, that it was strongly suggested that I be tested as a child. My father, who was later diagnosed, had declined, stating that s...

That is precisely the type of profile that would attract me. I do believe honesty is very important. It will also work as a filter, to save you from going on unnecessary dates.

I'm a first born, so it doesn't include me.

I had my children fairly close together. All three of them are on the spectrum.

The problem started when I was little. I was being bullied and treated like dirt by everyone. I swore to myself that from now on I would become someone imposing who puts everyone back in place and it worked. It just turned me into a jerk. Now this feeling of superiority is so deep inside me I can t...

I'm a lesbian, so I can give advice as a giver and receiver. First of all, stamina is important. Chew a lot of gum and manipulate it with your tongue. You'll need to strengthen those muscles. :) As someone said, don't rest your top teeth on her skin, anywhere. Find out what she likes, communication ...

It is a mix for me. In many ways I feel more mature. However, when it comes to life skills and issues dealing with executive function, I'm much like a child.

It doesn't feel like much of anything. I suppose I look at other females the same way a straight male looks at females.

I remember reading, and perhaps it was even said in this thread, that trying to get auties to work together is like trying to herd cats. We're not exactly a cohesive group.

I'm exactly the same. I'm looking forward to reading some advice in this thread. I have a serious problem with executive function.

There most certainly are painless ways to die. I will only suggest one to you, though.. Dying in your sleep of old age.

I seem to get over any sadness more quickly than a NT. I have a very hard time comforting those who are grieving. After a certain point, I just want to tell them that it's silly to continue acting like the world has ended. I think the only exceptions I would make in that coldness are the loss of a c...

I am not. I have read that we lack imagination. I have a very strong imagination, and spend much of my time living in a world of my own creation.

I am also quite capable of lying.

I am not sure what the differences are. I know that I'm often described as cold, weird, aloof, or even as a cerebral narcissist. I would think it would be more conspicuous with a female. We're supposed to be the "kinkeepers" of the species, and with most Aspie females, this ability is fundamentally ...

I hate calling places and I hate answering the phone. I have found a few ways to reduce this anxiety. I make sure that every one who will call has my cell phone number. I have my cell phone ringer set to something relaxing, like enya. I can also see who is calling. I do not like mystery when answeri...
