i think i may be stuck around the emotional maturity level of around a 13 - 14 year old. any experiences that require a maturity level greater than this will be lost to me. i don't mind at all.

i also don't think it's fair that people expect all psychiatrists/chologists to know about ASDs. different psychs study different areas, this is a good thing. if every doctor was an ASD specialist, there would be no help for people with other conditions. and i think it is silly to assume that just b...

and not only that, but the disorder they're SDing was 'created' by a doctor. Lol. I dont think autism was created by a doctor. It was created by Mother Nature.. a mother. yeh haha, i don't know the word i'm after. i can't like....make it come to me. do you know what i'm trying to say?? like a docto...

Was I talking s**t about your experiences? You quoted me, so again I'm taking this personally.... note: you have now extended the post i quoted above to contain things that i was not talking about, so i am not going to acknowledge them. this is NOT about you. i only quoted that one part of your pos...

This topic of questioning everyone's intentions is starting to ruin WP for me. I like being anonymous, and giving advice and sharing my experiences, but if everyone is just judging me or thinking that I'm trying to be "cool" then maybe I don't want to be here anyway. I'm fairly new to WP and post T...

unless you plan on being professionally diagnosed, don't worry about it!! if you relate to the spectrum and the people on it, just keep doing your thing. it can only be beneficial and beats not having anyone or anything to relate to at all. even if you don 't have an ASD, you clearly have similar sy...

I'm kind of annoyed, because she seems to have completely side-stepped the issue I came to see her for, and it's costing my mother a lot of money. Should I just tell it to her straight that I'm not happy with what she's doing? Or wait 'til my next session? Tell her straight that you're not happy wi...

yeh definitely tell her what you want. if you want an assessment then tell her that's what you want. say "thankyou very much for these stress relief techniques, they're very helpful, but i am really here for an assessment for AS" and tell her politely that you think you have AS and why (try not to s...

sort of. it was more they tried to 'normalise' me. they put me in mainstream school classes, even though it was reccomended that i go to special classes (ONLY because of the speaking thing). and they kept my diagnosis a secret from me and most people until i was too old to now know something was up....

i would very much like to be able to be more verbal as it is the main cause of any meltdowns i have these days.

Only the person would know if that is the truth---and I am not in the position to judge them and neither is anyone else. I know that I am autistic. And I believe that those here who say they are autistic are autistic. I did not look for AS in order to fit into something. I had never even heard of A...

Hmmm... I don't see why it would be so black and white. Isn't the whole point of a 'spectrum' that there should be a continuum? And therefore, whatever cutoffs you choose, they'll be somewhat arbitrary? Anyway, I'd say it's possible to have a 'mild version' - however you decide to define AS, there ...

i know many reasons why people wish to be on the spectrum. i'm not gunna bother going into it because nobody will give a hoot and just argue. but i know it is a desireable thing for many people, they feel it holds answers. thhey think they have an ASD, but they do not. they choose to say they're aut...

It is an spectrum, so the answer is yes. Do notice though that the DSM is clear that AS should have caused you a real impairment in some part of your life. Else it is not AS, it is something else. There is PDD-NOS. I have no idea what people mean when they say they have a form of AS. Either they ha...
