You do the best you can, and you don`t compare yourself to others. Focus on your goals, big and small, and acknowledge when you`ve achieved them.
Everyone goes through life only one day at a time. So that`s what you do.

Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: Is stimming a requirement?

This is just my personal opinion but - I think that some people with Aspergers have a great ability to control whether they stim or not. So it`s very possible that most people could remain still when in public, but stim in private. Personally, for me it`s a relaxation thing. I can`t particularly rel...

You can`t make him do what you want.
You CAN be in control of yourself.

So, if he wants to drive, simply say you aren`t comfortable being in the car with him, you`ll take a cab.

I have done this, it is not impossible.

It was some journalist in the UK, who published a story, and it pretty much went viral and doctors and advocates adopted it as fact. He later `recanted` and admitted it wasn`t scientifically sound. Damage had been done though,. Thank you Dr. A-hole, now we have TB and measles reaccuring in our popul...

I live in a major city, and I don`t have a car, so bus and subway travel is a must for me. I have no executive problems with public transit, I can find my way well enough - but My God is it noisy and crowded! It`s just awful. The buses wheels and even doors squeal in such a high pitch that I get mig...

Have you research sex addiction? Addictions of all types are common for people with Asperger`s. I think it`s a combination of the desire to escape the world compounded with the tendancy for compulsion and obsession.< It`s a pretty forceful mix. Anyway, look it up if you`re interested. It might provi...

Love parties. Used to go all the time (when I had friends). The point? Go out (so you're not at home = bonus) Dress up (new clothes, shopping = bonus) Hang with friends (with no teacher to 'shush' you = bonus) Get loud and crazy and laugh your ass off. (I've been known to climb a tree or two..) Musi...

It would...

Hm. Okay so, I think you are definitely missing a piece here. By 'looking for insults' they aren't trying to imply that your logic is unsound, or that your basic premise is somehow 'wrong'. What they are saying, is that by getting riled up and rigid about 'facts' and 'logic', you are making yourself...

A lot of people with Autism or Aspergers especially, are prone to mental illnesses in later life. I believe it is because we search for coping mechanisms for the 'offness' we feel, and can easily become fixated on the rituals/routines due to the nature of ASD. OCD, Tourettes, Eating Disorders, Depre...

I have heard that it is one of the factors Dr's pay attention to with newborn children. That's why they measure the head circumference of babies for a year. Large skulls can mean many different things, mostly hydrocephalus, which is fluid collecting in the brain and can be fatal. I have also heard t...
