Forum: LGBT Discussion   Topic: No concept of "gender identity"?

Or am I just stupid? I should add that my mental image/concept of myself is androgynous. I'm often surprised and annoyed by my real body (though that's for many reasons!) I have problems with people's ages as well. Same here. I'm pretty androgynously-minded, so my gender presentation is kind of all...

I have to live in this world, and that is immsensely stressful. Living with autism is very stressful; and going through burnouts and regression can and do happen (your therapist is wrong on this issue.) I'm just starting to recover from a sever period of shutdown and regression which has been going...

Both myself and one close friend of mine are infantilists, and we are also both diagnosed on the spectrum (me Asperger's, her HFA). The infantilist community has many autistic members. For me it is not sexual, it is just one of the coping mechanisms I developed when I was young to soothe myself when...

I feel like im the only who is diagnosed who ISNT in love with this disorder/disability. Hell is supposedly fire, but i feel autism is hell in a different kind of way. Alot of the ppl here who love and support autism live very comfortably in their parents home and have everything paid for them, but...

I really struggle with telephone use. I can only take calls or make calls if I know the subject and outcome of them in advance. For everything else, I have to have someone else make the call on my behalf.

I fixed the lyric in my signature. :) I guess it makes sense, I'm a very feminine homosexual male who's always been closer to women then I am men. I guess if I were to ever get in a relationship I would take on the role of the "girl". Plus I've always been attracted to very masculine guys. Doh. How...

So here's the thing:

I have always dated both men and women.

I am only attracted to women.

I have no sex drive, and am happier the less often I have to have sex, because I have never enjoyed it much in any form.

Am I a lesbian, bi, or asexual? Opinions please.

I don't think that'll help people to understand you more. Just seems to complicate it further. Especially with NT's words are better than calculations I would say (mass generalization here)? You may be right. Like I said I haven't tried it out yet. Just seems like to me, NT's tend to mistake specif...

I have the same problem, and what I am going to try is to write down my difficulties as simple algebraic equations. Example: ASD x Ag (agoraphobia)=EI (extreme isolation) EI x L (loneliness)=D (depression) SI (social interaction) / ASD = A (anxiety) W (work) / ASD = SM (sensory meltdowns) (W+SI+EI) ...

Do you believe that someone can Aspergers syndrome may also have Schizoid and/or Avoident behavor. Having been diagnosed with Aspergers in kindergarten around age 9 (very typical in that regard). After some searching and not trying to sound like a hypochondriac but seem to share many symptoms with ...

I've heard it suggested that due to bad experiences which are more common than the norm, people w/ASC's can develop various reactions than can become problems. Depression & anxiety would seem the most obvious ones. Personality disorders don't seem out of the question. My psychiatrist said this ...

That's a depressing statement. :( I disagree - no-one is incapable of finding love. Well just as it's possible for a paraplegic to get around (with a wheelchair), so it's possible for an aspie to find love. It doesn't necessarily mean one is going to live a fulfilled life though... For all the time...

Does anyone find a significant overlapping of Asexuality and those who have Asperger's Syndrome? Do any Aspies here identify as Asexual and if so, do you think it is related to being an Aspie? I identify as asexual, I am diagnosed ASD, and I believe the two are related. I just don't know how. Maybe...

Back in February of '09, I tried killing myself. Spent the night in a psychiatric ward. Been severely depressed ever since. I didn't have the balls. I have no value to the human race, no goal, no reason for anyone to care about me. No reason to care about myself either. Genetic liability. That's my...
