What schools do you people go to? In a competitive program you wouldn't be getting straight A's by "sitting in class and only paying attention for one to two hours per week." I have heard stories how students at MIT and Cal-Tech average 60 to 70 hours per week. If you guys honestly think school is s...

I have no idea how they came to this formula, because I see it a totally different way. I understand the entire theory behind it. it's simple, but their formula is ass backwards in my mind x = 100 / (1.05)30 and apparently it equals 23.14 somehow. That formula is to find how much money you would ne...

This sounds really sad to destroy your own degree. There are a lot of videos on YouTube of people destroying their degrees (usually by burning them). Most people these days (like SadAspy and myself) end up wasting 4 or more years and thousands of dollars just to end up with nothing in return. I had...

I was in somewhat of a similar position to the OP(I was twenty two and two months away from graduation. I applied to two different graduate schools and about 600 different jobs(No, I am not exaggerating). I got rejected from one of the schools I applied to and I got an offer from 2 out of the 600 jo...

I would suggest you study and get a BS in Computer Science if you are interested. It is a good career path with very high growth rates. I did my Bachelor's in Economics and I am going back to school to try and complete a MS in CS(I currently work at a software company). This isn't easy- 60 hour week...

I got rejected from one graduate school about three weeks ago(I was applying to a MS program). This is a fact of life- Don't get angry about one rejected application. I am happy that I am currently employed and am waiting two or so years before I go to graduate school rather than rushing into what s...

Calm down. The best thing to do at interviews is not to over-analyze. Wake up, eat breakfast, take a shower, and go.

College made me hate both young people and alcohol. It was a bunch of children gathered in a day care center without any chain of responsibility.

I wanted to complete a phd program when I was nineteen and still in undergraduate study. As I got older it seems that I am losing interest- I am twenty three and work at a software company although I only plan to complete a MS degree.

Hmm. Either Aspies are a high-achieving bunch academically, or nobody wants to admit to getting less than A's and B's. Or an alternative - that A's and B's together constitute more than 80% of grades distributed at US schools. It depends on what you study and where you go to school- students taking...

That it is, a 3.0 or above in any engineering or science major is considered far more impressive than a 4.0 most other majors (I apologize in advance for any flame war this may cause.) This definitely isn't biased :). The fact of the matter is that your gpa in college doesn't really matter very muc...

I have absolutely no idea what my IQ score is although I have read about the biographies of people who are actual geniuses(Isaac Newton). They fully devoted their life to their work: Which is more important than any standardized test score.

The problem is that many young students just think that getting the degree and grades will increase the probability of gaining employment and living the "dream life." Achieving good marks in classes really only qualifies the applicant for further schooling. The world outside of school doesn't exactl...

The general process seems to be: Go to school. Take out loans, go to college. I went to school, enrolled in college, took on two jobs, and did both jobs while going to college. The jobs seemed to rotate, but I don't think I ever worked more or less than two concurrently. No loans. These jobs includ...
