My son is growing up an only child. He is about to turn 4, and just beginning the diagnosis process of Asperger's. He does have an older half-brother, but he is only with us one or two days out of a month. We had tried to have another child about a year ago (before the AS traits starting showing), b...

...when the only productive fiction you can write is fanfiction because you know every single detail about a musician and can base a story on his real life experiences meshed with your real life experiences...but there is no way in hell you could ever write a piece of fiction from scratch because th...

I agree with pretty much all the positive *and* negative, and also recommend avoiding until absolutely sure on every [sub]conscious level you have available to you. But, despite it being hell, I think I'm more functional, even if only slightly, as a result. Perhaps more functional than I may have e...

My little boy does this too. His favorite made up word is 'apeeba'. We have no idea what he's talking about, but it always makes us laugh. He has caught on to that and now does it just to make mommy and daddy laugh. He repeats words sometimes, too, for a few minutes...and sometimes phrases. However,...

Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse and Conor Oberst. But maybe that's just because I relate so well to their lyrics. Kurt Cobain, I could see that, too. I kept thinking Conor Oberst- I'm surprised you are the only one that mentioned him. I met him after a show once and he was just as awkward as I was desp...

*raises hand* - I was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. I didn't have a clue what Asperger's was until we figured out my son had it, then realized I have it too. And probably not borderline...

My sense of smell is so heightened that it is ridiculous. I can't even walk downstairs if our puppy has done his business on a puppy pad because it overwhelms me as soon as I hit the middle of the steps and I start to get sick from it. I can smell my husband's feet too. It's awful. I make him go scr...

A child will take over your life and nothing will be the same ever again. However, that being said, I love mine more than anything or anyone on Earth. Ever. More than my mom, dad, husband, sister- everyone, ever. And I cannot imagine life without him... But, if you are thinking you don't want kids n...

Hiya, Sunshine_Daydream- I am brand new too (newer than you probably, hehe), but I just wanted to say something about the dad comment you made. I had my father drive us to the pediatrician yesterday so we could share my son's evaluation with her and our suspicions that he has Asperger's, and as I wa...

Hey everybody, I am an almost-30 mother of one and newlywed who just realized that I most likely have Asperger's or something very close to it. This happened when I attended two back-to-back meetings based regarding evaluations done on my almost-4 year old son (at his preschool). All parties kept sa...
