Bin Laden is far more useful to the Bush regime alive than dead. Anytime things are looking bleak for them they can come up with a new tape to keep the sheeple scared.

Sounds like a lack of "mirror neurons", which apparently is associated with autism. There's an article on them at wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirror_neuron

I'm wondering if "Middle-Earth" isn't a reference to New Zealand?

I haven't heard of any credible evidence to indicate they are enriching beyond the point needed for nuclear power. Based on past experience I have to discount any accusations from the governments of the US, UK, or Australia.

When I need flash, animations, or video: Firefox

From what an engineer friend mentioned today, LEDs would have the same migraine-inducing effect as fluorescents, unless you run them on DC power. For that matter, fluorescents might be tolerable if run on DC. LED's can't be run from AC. Flourescents can't run from DC. The "DC" flourescent fixtures ...

The flourescent lights that still use the old ballasts (non-electronic) are the ones that bug me because of the 60Hz flicker. I only buy flourescent lights with electronic ballasts. I've never noticed compact flourescents flickering (except when cold) so I assume they use electronic ballasts too. Th...

Another thing that puzzles me about some abortion foes is that they also oppose contraception, increasing the need for abortions. Their all purpose answer seems to be abstinance, showing how disconnected from reality they are. A guest on Charlie Rose recently made what I thought was a pretty good di...

But which god? Humans have created hundreds since the beginning of recorded time. The chances of any of the gods created being the one true god are very slim. Maybe the punishment for not believing in any god are smaller than in believing in the wrong god. In the end the whole imaginary friend scene...

I don't really think so. However, Apple will hopefully learn a lesson from the Safari blunder of allowing what it considers "safe" programs from running automatically. Except for that one, which is easy enough to disable, it seems what's out there requires a user to agree to run an unknown program. ...
