I learned to avoid ever being put there again.

Agree.

I was put in one a few years ago for 2 weeks and everything about it was disgraceful. However it was an NHS run one in the UK so it could be different in the US. I'm still angry about it.

Why are you asking by the way?

I didn't have to download an application I just scrolled down and the game loaded. I'm not sure what to make of the game. Instead of things getting sketchy like in the game, everything for me in real life gets clearer and clearer until things get too focused and almost fuse into one image. Having sa...

A simulation has been created to show what it is like when people with autism experience sensory overload.

I'm currently studying with the Open University and it has been brilliant, however, to gain a degree I must attend physically for some parts of modules and don't know if I can handle it.

I see certain numbers, days of the week and music notes in colours and organise my CD collection by the colour I associate with an artist. Sometimes it is annoying. I dislike the colour yellow which is associated with the number 11 and I can't remember things that happened in 2011. 2013 is really gr...

On Effexor which is the third type of antidepressant I've been on because others didn't get rid of the depression, this doesn't either. I can't even begin to describe the nightmare of coming off Effexor when I lost my insurance and before I got Medicare from my disability. It doesn't even work anymo...

I have no idea why anyone would be offended by that. You should ask your boss exactly what was wrong with it.

I was doing an electrician course at my college when I was 23 but dropped out half way through because of anxiety. This might not be relevant because I am in the UK but I was the youngest one there and non of us could get an apprenticeship. Everyone was telling us how it was basically pointless to c...

I wasn't exactly miss popular but I didn't really get bullied either. Around the second year of high school I knew I could be a target for bullies. People would come up to me or sit next to me and say hello but I could tell by their voice and character that sometimes they were being sarcastic and ho...

I forget that I have written stuff down so I usually make a story with pictures in my head of things I need to do the night before, it's a trick that I read a while ago and works. I animate the things in my head, give them a face, make it colourful and the stranger the better. I make sure one things...

I have been unable to leave my house for years and find it difficult to talk to people especially those working in mental health because of my past experiences with them. I was told seeing a specialist on autism would benefit me, but of course they didn't refer me to anyone. Now years later I finall...

I do tend to repeat things a lot but with my thinking I'm opposite. I always tend to agree with the saying 'no matter how thin you slice it, there are always two sides'. I can't pick sides and believe everyone's thinking and actions come from good intentions no matter how bizarre they seem

I live in London and have never found an NHS Dr who knows what it is and only one NHS psych who had heard of it but didn't know what it was. In my experience the NHS are more or less useless when it comes to anything to do with the mind.
