Hello, I was listening to a discussion on the radio about disabilities in films and some people were quite offended by non-disabled actors playing disabled characters. They likened this to "Blacking-up" and everyone seemed to agree that the latter was absolutely unacceptable. I am not sure... |

Great tips. Just to explain my situation a bit: I live in the UK, reasonably rural in a small village. I have a garden, fully fenced off and loads of fields to walk for longer trips. When the evenings are dark I tend to only go walking during the weekends. I am not very sporty so I'm looking for a m... |

Hello all, I recently went through a rough patch and what I found was that my parents' dog really made a difference. Taking care of him and going for walks was really therapeutic and now that I managed to get my life in order I am thinking of adopting a dog from a shelter around spring/summer time. ... |

Its mainly being so affected by my co-workers and the environment that I think has contributed to the breakdown. I just did not see it coming myself and am not sure to avoid it in the future. |

I was wondering if people have some advice for my current situation. I graduated university last year as was able to find a job relatively quickly. I was quite excited and moved to a different city quite far from my home town. It turned out to be the worst decision ever. The tasks of the job were no... |

Thanks for the replies QuantumChemist, your field seems to work quite differently though. I already have 2 masters degrees (1 First class honours and one with a 8.01/10 average) and I would love to do another course but I feel I cannot reasonably justify the expenses after the loans I have already t... |

I had applied to four scholarships and was invited to interview for one. Taking out loans to complete a 3-4 year study will result in me trying to pay it back for the rest of my life and is something I feel I can't do. The benefits would be grossly outweighed. Going back and telling them I have AS s... |

I am in the UK so it might be a different situation. I had my proposal approved and I was accepted into the program. However in order to get funding I applied to the university's scholarship program for which I had to do an interview. I had expected them to ask generic interview questions and for th... |

The last few months I have been applying to a PhD. I have two jobs but I managed to apply, do research for the proposal, write the proposal and do some networking in my spare time. Basically I spend all my spare time since the end of November on this and I made it all the way to the scholarship inte... |

Does anyone know the odds for getting a GTA? My research proposal has been accepted but I'm afraid I won't be able to fund my PhD if I don't get a GTA. Like most aspies my motivations for a PhD are not based on financial gain at all. I really detest my current jobs and the one are I have always pros... |

First of all I think you acted excellent under the circumstances. You left before things got completely out of control and the email was a very good choice. Secondly I would urge not to underestimate teachers. I did a year between high school and college at a small private college where I only had a... |

I'm not a doctor and the following is just some advise, but have a look at social anxiety disorder. It might fit your symptoms. I would also advise not rushing to a psychologist. If you have Aspergers' you will have had it your whole life and calming down, evaluating your symptoms and what would ben... |

Thanks for all the replies! Unfortunately I do need a bra, otherwise I would definitely skip it. Until a few years ago I wore the sloggi sport bras, but they are no longer giving enough support. I will look into some of the bras, maybe they have a European equivalent of the hanes model, those seem v... |
