For me, getting the sounds right has always been the most important component of learning a new language. Once I feel I can do that, I lose interest in other vital components, such as grammar and vocabulary, and I am much more likely to take up another new language--with enticing new sounds-- than t...

I usually enjoy the Holidays because I give myself a break from my usual rigid and judgmental mindset. I wouldn't want to be this easy to get along with all the time, but for a few weeks it's kinda nice.

Since I already have a beard, long hair, tattoos and a belly, going as a biker is just a matter of emphasis. Come to think of it, I may look like a biker to others all the time, which is why they're seem surprised when I open my mouth and the Little Professor issues forth.

Not me, I'm a terrible liar. I have enough trouble keeping facts straight in my head, much less fibs.

Sure. I come to the end of available information all the time. I don't drop the subject however, just push it to the back burner. (My, it's crowded back there.) After a few weeks or years more info may become available or I'll find a new direction of attack, and I'll take the subject up again. It's ...

I despise most of the brassicas, including cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, Brussel sprouts, kohlrabi, rutabagas and turnips. Well, I don't believe I've actually tried rutabagas, but with a name like that....

Forum: LGBT Discussion   Topic: Sexuality changing during lifetime?

It seems to me that sexuality and sexual orientation can and ought to change over time in response to the individual's changing perceptions of the world and to changes within society itself. Over my lifetime I've gone from considering myself 100% congenitally gay to an individual of no particular or...

Sure, why not? It's got big windows, a courtyard and a roof deck, all things I like to see in a house. With a toilet brush-shaped tree to provide a little shade, it would be perfect.

Yes, I was considered "dumb" in the sense of lacking intelligence even though I was a straight-A student. As I recall, the "explanation" was that I was interested in things no one cared about anyway, so the good grades didn't count. I was also considered "dumb" in the sense of not talking, yet I was...

I use incense daily: along with music and soft lighting it's part of my relaxation ritual. I do have increasing difficulty finding an acceptable product however, and I start by looking for a traditional scent rather than a "concept:" Sandalwood rather than Autumn Breeze.

This doesn't happen to me because I can always return to a past obsession or half-knowingly adopt a temporary, lightweight obsession to tide me over.

It will be completely obliterated. My great grandparents had four children who had two children who had one child who had--you can see where this is headed--0 children. Funny thing is, I like genealogy, as long as it just involves research.

My mother likes to garden, so I usually buy a nice blooming plant that can be put outdoors when the holiday is over. Miniature roses are particularly appreciated.

If it's a compelling show or movie I can get "lost" in, I certainly don't want anyone else lost in there with me, but if it's something less, I enjoy it more with company.

I roughly categorize my groceries, but if I'm not a fanatic about it. My mother was , which is how I learned to do it with moderation. What does bug me, however, is reaching down into the cart to retrieve items--I'm just too uncoordinated and short-of-arm. So I shop more frequently and pile everythi...
