Miracles and talent are only ordinary things that lesser minds cannot comprehend. This thought came to me this morning as I prepare to enter the hospital for a few days (heart catheterization, round 3) and must deal with all the braindead staff doctors who are totally incapable of listening or think...

It's called displacement. They feel ashamed of themselves so they try to shame others so they won't have to face themselves in the mirror. It's the game ALL bullies play.

Oh that's easy because there have been so many such times. The opposite question might have been difficult to answer. As with many Aspies, people have always tried to make me feel different, alone and unwanted almost every day for my entire life right up to the present day. This usually comes from f...

It's normal to ask that, though. It's a problem only if they don't believe what you say. Isn't the main problem there simply that information didn't properly flow between the hospital staff? It really sucks when that happens and can be life threatening too at worst, but regular patients can't reall...

Sorry this got so long-winded. Have you ever considered accepting your boyfriend exactly as he is rather than making efforts to change him to meet your expectations? One of the most evil things that Aspies constantly encounter is that condescending attitude that we are somehow defective and that thi...

Can't You Get Somebody To Help? How many Aspies here have been asked this question when trying to explain to someone that you simply have no family, friends or acquaintances to help with some task where such help is required by some outside agency for bureaucratic reasons? It is one of my most dread...

Tony Attwood is sometimes quoted as saying, "You don't suffer from Aspergers. You suffer from other people". This is so true. I originally found this quote a number of years ago at the website aspieinthefamily.com and always assumed that it came from one of Attwood's books but I had no ide...

I used to be overweight until 15 years ago until my only diabetic complication caused me to lose 95 pounds without even trying. I went from 245 in 2004 to 190 8 months later then 170 two years later then 150 a year ago, all without trying. Believe me, you sure don't want the gastroparesis that did i...

A doctor in my country, whether in private practice or working for the State, wouldn't be "recalled into the Army reserve". I just noticed a miswording in my previous post. I shouldn't have used the word "recalled" along with the word "reserves" because once in the res...

I'm sure not all doctors have that assholish attitude, and that are many who really do care about the patients they will treat one day and not only about their fat bank balance. But certainly some I've met (not as a patient) were very competitive in every way. You are indeed quite right about that....

And thank YOU for your appreciation. In my case my electronics interest turned out to be the one fortunate aspect of my life. Through a series of accidental twists of fate (oddly enough including one incident of homophobic abuse by my senior year college major professor), I ultimately ended up in a...

So that is the story about how I learned to masturbate... and then some. Thanks for taking the time to write that. I really enjoyed reading it. I'm was/am an electronics nerd too, and although my story is different your sounds just so quintessentially Aspie that it just resonated. And thank YOU for...

I learned to masturbate quite accidentally in a somewhat unusual manner. This story is actually kind of funny when I look back on it, but it is also a sad statement about humanity that nobody would care enough to have explained things to me when it was glaringly obvious that it was knowledge that I ...

I reply to anything, even "hey you". Family and hometown people have always called me by my full name but everybody else has called me by my nickname (just a shortened version of my full name), which I prefer. I sign my full name but always answer the phone by my nickname. For years I work...
