Thanks for checking in! I've been having trouble getting up in the mornings still. I had some good opportunities come through, and I hope my afternoon tendencies haven't hurt them. I was supposed to meet someone at a company this week for freelance opportunities. I already have one freelance client ... |

I haven't gotten a job from it yet, but it can't hurt. I've spoken with a couple of recruiters so far who use it as a double-check of your resume. |

Definitely programming. Also editing text...I've been editing grant proposals for someone at an energy company (although I'm not very interested in the subject matter...). I recently read an academic journal article on how people on the spectrum are perfect candidates for software testing...attenti... |

The thing I was expected to learn, by the way, was Javascript. I'm familiar with coding languages in general, but it takes me a while to get "fluent" in a language, and I'm not very good at learning from textbooks. From their perspective I wasn't trying hard enough, and honestly I wasn't trying as h... |

Yeah, I was still learning, and the situation had been building for a while, but I didn't know what to say. I was waiting on my therapist to give me literature to share with HR, but I forgot to remind him as he had asked me to do. I think you're right about the discrimination thing. There was a writ... |

I think that I am less sensitive to rejection than most NTs. Even in school I didn't care much what others thought of me, so their rejection didn't mean much to me. I'm a very solitary person though. I'm the type of Aspie who has never felt the need to work hard for inclusion. I would imagine it wo... |

In this case, they lied. After all, you said yourself It's possible. It could indicate that they were looking for a reason (which is what I suspected anyway). Been down that road many times. "Why aren't you smiling?" "You never became one with the team" "Are you feeling ok? You look sad." This was ... |

Thanks, guys. That helps a lot.
But yeah, having access to a live production database is something I thought wasn't possible either. I had it open because I needed to use it when the content management system they wrote in-house didn't function properly. |

I have been rejected numerous time and even by another person on the spectrum-it does make you sensitive and it hurts. I've been rejected by a fellow Aspie as well. He called me an egomaniac, though I'm pretty sure he was just projecting (we both had strong opinions). It hurt a lot. I never thought... |

Yes, Faery's advice is very good. I have trouble with phone calls too, and building confidence before interviews. I think I just used to pretend I was a stage actor or something, and I said what people wanted to hear. I'm particular about my baths as well. I'm lucky to have a renovated apartment. I ... |

Good advice all around. My parents are saying that I shouldn't file for unemployment because it could hurt the reference with my former employer. Does anyone have experience with this? I was terminated with cause, so I may well be ineligible anyway. I'm thinking it could make me look like something ... |

I'm 27. I had a really good job that accommodated for most of my special needs, but the highly social environment was too much for me to take. I wish I had spoken up about my condition sooner, but it is what it is. I'm having confidence issues going into the next job. It took all my energy to put fo... |

Good to know, thanks. I've definitely been working on making a list! It helps that a couple on my list include workplaces that have friends I know already working there. |

I love night shift jobs! I'm not a morning person in the least. My favorite job so far was an internship I had at a newspaper, and I was able to work 6 p.m. - 2 a.m. I could take care of errands during the day and sleep in. It was a dream. Unfortunately, newspaper jobs are hard to come by these days... |

Now that I think of it, there was a junior employee who arrived an hour late once. There was a meeting at 10 and he showed up at 11. But no matter. I was given more chances than he was. And given my work output, I think they would call me lazy before the other guys. I had lots of ideas, they were ju... |
