Compare with French which has separate plural and singular pronouns ('vous' and 'tu', except equally strangely, you always use 'vous' until you are familiar enough with someone to use 'tu' without it being offensive). And then there's Japanese where pronouns are rarely used at all, with titles equiv...

I think the single biggest issue is that while there may well be anti-discrimination laws in many countries, they may as well have been written on toilet paper, rolled back up, and left in the toilet for all the good it does. As soon as an employer knows you're unemployed and disabled, they know you...

Some of us can't avoid having to disclose more than we'd like, due to long periods of unemployment on our résumé's that have to be explained somehow. Besides, if you've got Asperger's and are applying for a programming job, it might be worth pointing out that several companies, including no less tha...

Compulsively lying in defense of their own actions (and having the charisma to pull it off), is actually a well known facet of being a sociopath (or a politician). It's really about time the fields of psychiatry/psychology recognised that other disorders are part of a spectrum too, because I'm sure ...

Here's the way I explain shutdowns and meltdowns: In everyone's brain there is something functionally equivalent to the mixing desk at a recording studio: http://www.bbc.co.uk/staticarchive/90186223849f542c826a42306d596883523722ff.jpg Except that instead of it controlling how the sounds from a bunch...

There are some games that benefit from practice, where others you're better off reading up on strategies, and getting a good understanding of the game's systems. You practice to get muscle memory. It's like in The Karate Kid, where Mr Miyagi has Daniel painting his fence, sanding his wooden decking,...

i liked the book and the interview. however for me the book made me feel quite isolated as an autistic person who is not good at maths, science or technology because of all the talk about how we are supposed to be great at that. i am not great at any of that. im interested in technology and science...

He's best off trying to find other autistic people to be friends with, because as a rule most non-autistics just aren't accepting, or willing enough to make the effort to associate with those on the spectrum. It can become utterly exhausting for the person with AS trying to fit in socially, when all...

You're not going to get electrocuted opening up a computer, be it laptop or desktop. Mains voltage ends at the power-brick/wall-wart for a laptop, and in a desktop the power supply, which is a separate metal box inside the PC's case that the power cord plugs directly into (if it was made of cardboar...

All it takes is one person to go through them all and add a post to each, and everyone who uses the new posts page ends up haveing to scroll or click to another page.

The entire games section should be excluded from the new posts page.

If you're lucky all that'll need replacing in the old laptop is the hard drive, which you can probably get for a few dollars on ebay, once you work out what kind you need. Other than the disk drives / battery / screen though, there isn't a lot that you can replace, as almost everything is soldered o...

If anyone doubts you, I suggest asking to see their degree in Clinical Psychology.

Everyone may be entitled to an opinion, but that doesn't mean their uninformed opinions aren't utterly worthless when compared to the informed opinions of people who have actually studied the subject matter.

It's not that you develop autism after you're vaccinated. It's that you're born with autism, and it takes some time to fully manifest, because after being born the brain can work 'normally' for at least a little while before it shuts down due to overstimulation (and just having the needle stuck in y...
