I try to make direct eye contact every so often in conversation, but while I'm looking at their eyes I can't focus on the conversation. Its almost like its too personal, like I'm being held under a spotlight. Its very uncomfortable. I'll usually lose track of what the person is saying because in my ... |

Its never really bothered me. My doctor even uses it a lot. Its much easier than always saying "person with Asperger's". |

Sometimes I question the diagnosis I was given because I don't exactly fit the mold. While I don't go out to parties anymore like you do (When I stopped the alcohol and drugs I found I couldn't tolerate bars and clubs anymore), I used to go clubbing regularly. My roommate took me under his wing for ... |

You are 24% neurotypical!
You aren't that neurotypical. Social skills aren't your strong suit and you tend to have more skill in other areas, however, you may still enjoy socializing. It is likely that you are autistic. |

Since my diagnosis, I've been doing a lot of reading on Asperger's trying to see where I fit in. I've found some books and sites that ring very true for me and others not as much. One part that has me confused talks about how people with Asperger's often say things that are considered rude or inappr... |

Up until now my life has been improving tremendously with the use of meds. I have a great psychiatrist who has been there for me and has really helped me out of a dark place. I'm going to school again full time and I'm also working and supporting myself. However, things are starting to change. I'm s... |

I just had one in my writing class Thursday. We had a prompt to write about and I literally could not think of ANYTHING to say. My mind started cycling faster and faster and I was frozen in my seat. I couldn't even get up to go the bathroom to hide. I just sat there rocking holding my jacket sleeve ... |

I'm surprised at how well I did. I know for a fact I have trouble with picking up social cues. I've read a lot about body language, but perhaps I just have problems with the application. I guessed on a good portion of the test, but I also think anyone who takes interest in types body language can re... |

Labeling can be bad. People tend to get carried away with diagnostic labels when in reality, everyone can find things about themselves that fit with certain mental disorders. A professor once called it "Psych student syndrome" becasue psychology students, after hearing all the different disorders in... |

That's me as well. No matter how hard I try I just can't seem to fit in with people...even if we share interests. I've forced myself to go to clubs at school and every single time I all but run to get out of the room. Its so painfully awkward to try and get involved in any kind of group In the class... |

I love Wrong Planet. I've learned a great deal about Asperger's and myself from the people on this site, but unfortunately I haven't meet hardly anyone on these boards. I'm really frustrated because I have an opportunity to meet others out there that know Aspergers and understand some of the hardshi... |

Yes, I've done E many times and it gives me the euphoria, but it doesn't make me talk the way Adderall or Vyvanse does. In some instances E actually made me mute. I was happy of course and had a really strong sense of belonging to the group I was with, but I couldn't form a single sentence. I was ki... |

I've found that amphetamines, like Adderall and Vyvanse, help me out tremendously in social situations. After about an hour after taking them, I tend to get a sense of euphoria and an actual desire to reach out and talk to people. Its bizarre because off them, I am very introverted and often have tr... |

No, he approached me. I'm actually worried he might like me a little too much. Still I think I'll give him a shot and see how it goes. I have to admit though, I'm a little skeptical. Had he been any other guy (that didn't look like my psychiatrist) I would of said no right from the beginning. I gues... |

I posted here a while back about being in love with my psychiatrist. Well, it hasn't gotten any better, but I'm dealing with it and I accept that it will never be. That aside, I really do need him in my life. He's my only support right now as I have no friends...so I keep my mouth shut. I should men... |
