I walk fast, too, and I often run into things (door jambs and tables, mostly). I have to force myself to slow down when I'm with other people who don't walk as quickly as I do...slow walkers kind of annoy me. I like what someone else said about people don't seem to realize they'd get to their destin...

Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: why are self-diagnosed aspies considered "posers?"

i looked into getting a diagnosis, but it costs right at $2200, and i don't have that kind of money to spend on a diagnosis. i'm not paying that much for someone to verify what i pretty much know to be true. this is not unlike how i haven't officially been diagnosed with gluten intolerance, and i'll...

I have to track my calories every day to ensure I eat enough to support my sports. I have many times, caused myself damage by undereating. I frocking hate to eat and to buy food and to clean up, etc. I wish I could just take a pill. HATE stopping what I am doing... i wish there were a pill, too. i ...

i scored 132 on the alexithymia test, but like someone else said, i didn't know how to answer the questions because i lack a point of reference. and though i understood the reasoning behind it, i was still amused that there was an "undecided" answer choice...seems like you'd be most likely to have a...

Did you go through an interview process? yes. i normally suck at interviews, but i did okay because i was prepared. D...

1. interaction is exhausting. 2. i never know if i'm making too much or too little eye contact, and i devote lots of energy to thinking about eye contact and forget what's being discussed. also, i use my hands a lot when i talk and i've noticed some people watch my hands while i talk, which makes me...

yes, i can talk myself out of anything. with social activities, i'll often initially agree to go and i'll be excited about getting out there and doing something, and then the closer it gets to the day of the event, the more i freak out. i'm usually very stressed out on the actual day. sometimes i ca...

Speech and language peculiarities: yes. i often pause mid-sentence to try to figure out what i want to say next. this leads to awkward silences. Overformal speech: yes. i use complicated/arcane words when a simpler word would work just as well--this isn't intentional; i just use the first word that ...

I identify with pretty much all of what has been said here already. I like being alone. The older I get, the more time I require alone, but I also don't want to completely isolate myself. That seems unhealthy to me, and I know that I get depressed and lonely when I completely lack social interaction...

I've been diagnosed with depression, social anxiety/panic attacks, epilepsy, fibromyalgia, GERD, migraines, and allergies. I also have gluten/casein intolerance and am extremely sensitive to medication (particularly antibiotics). I show signs of OCD and I think I might have ADD, though I've never be...

Oh yes, I was disliked by most girls--and I continue to be. I had a couple of good friends until sixth grade or so, then by the time I was in seventh grade I had none. In eighth grade I was bullied (by girls), and I had a few friends in high school who I thought were my best friends, but they decide...

I thought I was flexible until it was pointed out to me that no, not so much. My girlfriend drops me off at work every day on the way to her job, and a few weeks ago one of her coworkers asked if she could carpool with us. My girlfriend liked the idea and I didn't have any concrete reason to object ...

I do it too, and then I annoy people by going on and on and trying to fix what I was saying. I also go further with it in that if I'm trying to describe a thought or a feeling, there are no right words for it, so I monologue at people with words that "describe" the word I'm trying to think of and I...
