An Egyptian Cleric has issued a Fatwah on those who destruct artefacts. Be interesting to see what effect it has.

Well I'm here as a result of my mum (bi-polar) and dad (undiagnosed but definitely Aspergers) getting together, so I reckon love is possible whatever. Just takes a little time sometimes. Took me till I was 32 ffs and I'm (apparently) NT just didn't click with anyone.

^ Phew - this is what I'm learning to do with D. She's nearly 4 and for her the most important thing is consequences. Might not work but I'm trying to appeal to her natural sense of fairness and wanting to know the rules - once she knows and understands, she's pretty good at following them.

Yes, but if some idiot came to you and started telling you how the pyramids were built by aliens or by a bunch of foreigners and you tell them that there is not proof for that but there is lots of proof that they were built by Egyptian workers and you SHOW them the proof, are you not going to loose...

LOVE Pratchett! I can never pick a favourite character, but I do like Vimes and Death, and the time monks, and the Patrician, and well lots of others. Oh yes Tiffiny Aching and all the witches are fabulous. I thought Nation was wonderful and surprised myself by loving the football one too. His writi...

Oh I have no idea but I am in exactly the same boat. My daughter is due to start next September and I am so scared. If an autistic person reads this could you answer me - is it as vital as EVERYONE seems to say that autistic children get socialised? I dont get it, the Aspergers book I'm reading atm ...

TBH although I did find Pandora's Box original post really offensive as it directly described my daughter, and I was shocked to find the first instance of someone describing her speech patterns as ret*d as coming from someone else with Aspergers, I've sort of gotten over it a little bit. I still thi...

Well my little girl (4 in February) told me the other day for the first (and only) time that "I love mummy" . There was no prompting, I wasn't talking about love or anything, it was completely her doing. You know what - I'm glad she does. We've not got a firm diagnosis so we're still in the stage of...

It's completely rubbish. I did forensics 20 years ago at uni (part of an archaeology degree) and the take up even then was woeful. The bodies of the West's victims dug up with spades! Also, I saw the severe invalidity benefit is going to be cut too, so no more independent living for those who were d...

I was very fortunate with respect to my parents understanding I was very different, however I was bawled out by my grandfather once. He made up for it though. It really does upset me, the things that many people with AS have been subjected to as children, as a result of being misunderstood by their...

Good luck! I have no information as we have only just started on the journey ourselves. Oh I do - one bit - there is a user called Tracker who you will meet, he has a book detailing his experience growing up which is really useful to read. Whereabouts in the UK are you? Please dont say if you dont w...

Oh gosh, thanks for that. My little girl is "probably" autistic (speech and language therapist suspects, but not confirmed by psych. yet). She is 3 and a hald and really loves being with other kids but just doesn't "get" the whole playing thing. Mind you, neither did I as a kid and I've learnt over ...

I'm NT but my mum (who is bi-polar) did/does a lot of this. We see her with caution.

EmaN - have you read about co-dependency? That emotional push/pull of your mum's sounds quite similar?
