I like to go to the movies during matinees, when it's just me and some random old people. Opening weekend of a highly anticipated action blockbuster, I never go, because it's just gonna be full of annoying people. Oh, and I hate the 3-D trend. The glasses don't fit well over my glasses (that I HAVE ...

I obeyed the rules, did my homework, got straight A's, and was popular with adults as I was "never any trouble." But I was terrified of the other kids and only found "friends" among the other social discards. If anyone noticed, they took the easy out of labeling it a "phase." The only difference be...

There's got to be a large number of us who enjoy Jeopardy and trivia in general. What did you guys think of the computer Watson, built by IBM to be able to parse natural language and idiom? Spoiler alert: Watson pretty much wiped the floor with Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter, the two best Jeopardy pla...

I'm pretty ritualistic about eating different foods on different days. Like if I had a burger on Monday, I can't have that on Tuesday.

Also, I'm pretty good at blackjack, but since I'm high functioning, all I do is misread social cues and act awkward. (credit to John Hodgman for that joke.) :)

Aside from being wrong about Aspies caring about being bullied (we DO, and it HURTS), there's the simple fact that bullying is wrong. I might have read wrong, but is your workmate a teacher? Terrifying that this person is in charge of kids and doesn't think bullying is a problem that needs to be sol...

I've always had almost perfect spelling and grammar from when I was very young. It's from reading all the time. Personally, I've always found it easy to utilize proper English on the Internet. I don't even like to run spell check, because I go back and edit automatically if I make a typo. Like coffe...

No, there is something more than just my upbringing. I didn't hang out with the other Asian boys either. In fact, during Chinese school, the other boys would always go outside during break to play football. The girls would...do whatever girls do (gossip?) I would walk around the building alone. One ...

Yes, I have very long conversations in my head. Sometimes it will be planning out things I'm going to say to people I know in real life. Other times I will go over past conversations and think of how I might have said something better. And still other times I will fantasize about meeting famous peop...

So you might have read this article in the Wall Street Journal about "Why Chinese Moms Are Superior." I was raised in a manner somewhat like this. Although my parents were somewhat more lenient in some ways, they were pretty strict in others. I began piano lessons at 4 (was never very good, though I...

What annoys me is that every time some nutcase goes on a shooting spree, the media is all, "He was a loner, quiet, kept to himself, didn't have many friends..." No wonder we have it rough. That not only annoys me, but makes me mad. Every time somebody goes on a shooting spree the media is quick to ...

Joe, you've described a lot of my experiences. I often have the same "blocks" that you have, like not being able to talk in loud environments or changing appointments. I also have the trouble that Cornflake describes, of not understanding the subtleties of when to jump in on a conversation. Thus, I ...

And then there's something about junior high and high school that brings out the mean streak in people. It is not a healthy environment in any way, shape, or form. You would think, gee, one more person volunteering to help out, that's a good thing. But that is not the way sports teams, or even thin...
