Another one of those "common sense" things that I apparently was supposed to know, but didn't. "Do not use metal on Teflon!! !" I was told as I tried scraping off burnt on food with the backside of a fork. Now I feel like a idiot for not knowing this thing that was apparently was supposed to be emb...

Thanks :) I will read up on analysis's (is that how you put that in the plural?) for homework assignments :) Idk what to do about the SATs though....it's keeping my English composite scores in the 600s. JPR, first, the plural of analysis is analyses. In fact, you can probably find plenty right on t...

I'm sorry if I'm in the wrong sub-forum, but I don't know where else to put this. I have trouble reading people and analyzing. I can manage the whole social aspect of it; I've found work-arounds. However, English class is exceptionally difficult as a result of this problem. I used to do really well...

Yep, exact same problem. I've worked out various tricks, like if I go to the pantry for a bottle of water I take the current empty bottle with me. Anyone ever been reading a web page and then have a thought to google something and when the new tab/window pops up you forget what you were going to se...

... the more I feel detached from others. Is this normal? It is as if I am pulling the wool off my eyes. I realize so many people have really just been taking advantage of my aloofness and inability to assert myself properly. I feel increasingly like there is no place to me in normal human society....

Why would people praise the film Brokeback Mountain when it's all about two guys who share gay love? O_o Critic, people who are homosexual will have obvious reasons for appreciating this movie. As far as non-homosexuals go, some people, as you've probably noticed on this thread, feel an overwhelmin...

I have the same problem. Luckily, I recently read the following article and discovered it is the case with me:

Being aware of what causes memory lapses has helped me deal with them better.

Ah, the French. They have two extremes, one being the Lacanian psychoanalysis that is criticized as being too authoritarian, and rightly so; and the other extreme being the thought of Michel Foucault, who believed that criminals and schizophrenics, as marginalized elements, have more moral authority...

I was wondering if the following are symptomatic of Asperger's or of having an accompanying auditory processing issue. (I would get evaluated for a learning issue at my school, but I am not eligible due to having been diagnosed with a mental illness in the past) I can't absorb any information from ...

Vampi, welcome. My best friend is a Scot (though it looks like he's going to have to move to London for work). I'm guessing in Scotland you'll have a bit more breathing room. South England is nice, but CROWDED! Yeah. Its a lot better up here. I am more accepted than in the south. I think people up ...

Was anyone here treated as though you were someone to be broken in order to get you to be less autistic? In other words, others were trying to make you more like the normal kids. How did you respond to that? Were you just accepted growing up? If so, did you end up figuring out your own way of deali...

I told my boss that I want to apply for another job, and asked her advice about disclosing my AS in a job application- she very quickly told me not to. What do you think? Also, any experiences, good or bad, or disclosing in an application? kt24, I think there are two answers to your question: As an...

As a man of almost 30 with what I suspect (and may soon to be confirmed) is a mild-to-moderate autism/anxiety disorder, I've been struggling to understand how people have found the courage and appeal to do so many things that I still find frightening. For instance, I insisted on staying close to ho...

Does this happen to you as a student or kid? The few times I tell an adult or someone else about my Asperger's, they end up talking to me in that weird, soft, poor kid tone. Is it my imagination or do they really think I am...dysfunctional and ret*d? Why do they do that? I mean, it's just a state o...
