Does anyone else here have a lot of trouble with identifying their own feelings and deciding whether they’re real – whether they’re what you’re really feeling, and would be valid in other people’s eyes? I do. I feel like I can’t take myself seriously, and always feel that others won’t take me seriou...

Mm, I agree with most of this. For me, as a person with AS who does experience anxiety in social situations, it's kind of a mixed up mess of things and a lot of them tie in together. The stress of being in a social situation and having to do something that I have to think about a lot because it does...

I've taken the test a few times and I almost always get INFP, which actually describes me well. I guess it's kind of weird considering the AS thing, though, as almost everyone else here seems to be a T. :?

I hate having AS. I know that many people with AS are wonderful, and that there are good sides to having it – but I’m a horrible person, and none of these positive aspects really exist in me. I don’t have special interests…although I sometimes become obsessed with destroying myself. I’m not logical;...

Thank you all for the replies. There's little chance of convincing them to stop smoking or stop smoking inside the house. It's kind of a problem as we only have a small garden, we don't really have a back porch (and there's no space to stand in the front one) and the horrible weather in the winter m...

Don't even get me started on books. :P There are a lot of books that I really love. As mentioned, the Harry Potter books are awesome. I've also loved the His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman for years, though it's made me cry more than once. :P Other great books I've recently read are: The T...

Thanks, everyone. :) I'm glad to know that I'm not alone (though it sucks that you all have to deal with them too :P)! I suppose that you've just got to find your own ways of controlling them...I guess I'm hoping that comes with time and experience.

Hey Performer16196, I can definitely relate to this! My situation isn’t exactly the same, but I know what it’s like to deal with self-doubt and thoughts which, like your sister described, just kind of come up without you being able to stop them. I also think that everyone has it to an extent – it ma...

Both of my parents smoke, and though they insist that the house doesn't smell of smoke at all as they only smoke in one room - which has a door which doesn't close properly which leads into the hallway, and they won't close any other doors in the house - it does to me. It gets into everything - I've...

I'm not quite sure if this is an aspie thing or just me, so...does anyone else here do it? I don't have a special interest as such, but I do go through phases of obsessing over things which really aren't good to obsess about, and it's like I just can't switch my focus to anything else. It's horrible...

As a teen aspie, how often do you get them? To what intensity, and do you struggle to cope with them? How do you cope? I've had trouble with mood swings -- going from irritable to really down on myself and hating myself to (rarely) silly happiness, to feeling restless and frustrated and as if I alwa...

I was officially diagnosed with an ASD (the person who diagnosed me told us it was Asperger's, but apparently the diagnosis technically had to be just "autistic spectrum disorder" because I was bilingual and so it was possible to measure whether I'd had any language delay or something, although both...

As in, do you think a person with Asperger’s or an ASD is likely to kind of develop and show depression and anxiety in different ways because of neurological differences and differences in the way they show emotions? Do you think they are more or less likely to be in denial of their depression/anxie...

I can relate, a lot. I've often had to deal with having to do group work at school; unfortunately I don't think I've ever really dealt with it very well. I do have two friends in school, whom I can work with well enough in classes. However, stick me in a class without one of them in - or even make m...

School is hell for me, and as more time draws on there seems to be less and less of a point in it. It drains me of absolutely everything, leaving me unable to make myself do things like writing and music because I just get stressed and upset about them - in turn getting more stressed and upset becau...

I feel so weak sometimes because of the way I avoid doing certain things: talking to anyone but my mother and my only two friends; speaking up in class; participating in things where I'm afraid that people are focusing on me like Drama and Dance and PE, even just working in front of others. I've tri...
