According to Robert Burns the haggis is:
Quote:
Great chieftain o' the puddin'-race!

Most fish and chip shops round here will sell haggis (in both the sausage and traditional shape) along side black and white pudding (and anything else that can be cooked in a deep fryer).

In the UK cheques are not guaranteed until 6 working days after they have been paid into the bank. For this reason (and because almost all bank accounts come with a debit card) they are not used at all for retail transactions. The few times I write cheques I can check my balance before hand to make ...

I suspect chicken feet have, at some point in time, formed part of a Tesco beef lasagna. I think I could eat them ok (assuming a decent restaurant was serving them) although eating something with toenails would be a bit offputting. I've still got that white pudding I bought from Morrisons to try out...

As far south as that? Unfortunately a journey of that distance (combined with accommodation) would be a bit beyond budget for me at the moment. If I wait until I know enough other people have committed then the cost will be a lot more. Accommodation is the main cost as I would need to spend a few ni...

The main disadvantage of the online (edX/Coursera) is the lack of formal recognition of achievement. The main reason for this is the lack of proper assessment. To cope with the number of students for no cost the assessment has to be automated. Since there is not full assessment it is not possible to...

It does not work fully, after a number of pages it stops working.

Can you get your boss/manager to give a reference, if not the HR department may be able to.

Many companies only give fairly non-specific references so (provided you have not been in too much trouble) they will not detail what your colleagues thought of you.

It is worth pointing out that the Edinburgh Festivals are about to start so prices for (short term) accommodation rental will be very high at the moment. The areas surrounding the university buildings, which are some of the largest venues in the city, will show the biggest increase due to the touris...

Edinburgh rents will be cheaper (expensive for Scotland, but not London expensive). It is far more possible to stay close to the centre in Edinburgh than in London. The majority of buses (and coming soon tram) are run by a municipally owned company (single fare £1.50, dayticket £3.50) http://www.lot...

The current trend in the UK is the opening of small local shops by the big chains. These tend to hurt the small, independent foodshops as they are usually a bit larger (since the large chains can afford to pay a higher rent) and have a better range of stock (particularly of fresh food). Despite bein...

People only tend to publicise their wins, not their losses. Somebody who has won at the casino will tell you, somebody who loses will not. if you're not naturally lucky, casinos aren't for you. The only reason they make money is most people who weren't born lucky decide to go there anyway. And it's ...

When not at home I use a Staedtler sharpener, it works well. At home I use a Helix desk mounted pencil sharpener, it also works well. Cheap electric sharpeners do not have good cutting mechanisms and are useless. Another thing to consider is the quality of pencils you use. I find a Staedler pencil l...

Put in a formal complaint about their discrimination/ignorance (by registered post), if their reply is not acceptable raise it further. Take an audio recording of all meetings with them (phone or in person) to aid your case if necessary. You'll get a reputation as a difficult person and they'll make...
