I was (or was at least close to being) a gifted child; around four years ahead of my peers when I started school. But due to egalitarian ideology among some teachers, I wasn't allowed to progress until the other kids had caught up with me. The headmaster even confiscated a grammar book one of the te...

Well, it's still a fact that the only country in Africa that has managed to turn the HIV tide until now (unless there are recent news I haven't seen yet), Uganda, did so through partner reduction, not condom campaigns. As I said, "no one" (at least not the Pope, nor other sane people) believes condo...

My only episode(perhaps -s, only one recorded) of mild hypomania (as in they weren't sure it was even hypomania, but they wound up calling it that) happened due to SSRI's. It's still bipolar disorder according to my psychiatrist, even though I seem to have no risk of hypomania as long as I'm not on ...

While I don't normally bother to say anything in threads like these (I'm mostly a lurker anyways), it should be noted that cardinal Ratzinger was a main contributor to ending abuse coverups. He personally got into place rules that prohibit bishops from handling such cases "on their own" (which was a...

I am a nonpolitical democratic socialist. A democratic socialist is a good thing to be. I just wish we had a major party that reflected that political philosophy. Till we get one, I'll vote Democrat. (Breaking my rule about not really discussing politics in depth with people I don't know, but...) B...

0%. I tend to score above normal on similar tests (edit: by that I mean the "mindreading" tests) with static images. I suck at reading expressions in real situations though (but I'm above 0%, at least :) ), so I guess this test reflects me better than the other ones.

My own IQ is somewhat important to me, but I don't look down (or up, for that matter, especially if they're being jerks about it) on other people because of their IQ. I'm fully aware that I often appear plain out stupid to people even though I have a high (but not exceptional) IQ, because of my soci...

I have the Vita, but didn't play it much until I got Disgaea 3, which I love. It was difficult to find where I live, and not available through PSN for some stupid reason. I also play the Persona games from time to time. I bought Uncharted when I got the console, just to get a feel for the graphics a...

I speak to everyone, even the ones I know only feed the same lines back to me without starting a conversation sequence. I tend to do this in every playthrough, since I'm not sure of my own memory, so I just "have to check" to be sure I don't miss anything. Even though my memory is usually correct. I...

For gaming the best upgrade would be a GeForce 600 card.

Just don't buy any 600 card, but I guess that's obvious. A 480 would still be heaps better than the low-end 600 cards, that's an assumption though as I haven't read all the tests.

I'm anticipating either a videogame crash, or, the more likely scenario is that the slow but steady flow of games worth playing will stop entirely. I'm scared by that thought, and I see it coming. But then there's also an increase in quality indie games, since development is easier now even if you ...

Biblical fundamentalism (or rather Sola Scriptura as such, but especially fundamentalism) commits the same error as hard empiricism. The fundie says (theological) knowledge is to come from Scripture alone, but this isn't said in Scripture. Hence, he/she has already assumed a non-Scriptural idea as t...

I play both. I even have a NES connected to my flatscreen. I like great graphics, but they have to be cobbled with good gameplay, and if an RPG, a good story. I'm not fond of playing low resolution games on an LCD monitor though. If the game is great, I may tolerate it. This isn't much about graphic...

I tend to drift a lot while reading, watching TV and so on. Often have to rewind a lot, or realize I've been staring into the same page for ages. In conversations, it's the opposite. I hate the phenomenon where topics warp every three or four sentences, before completing them. Ironically, people thi...
