Why should the people have so much power when 45% of them believe in the Biblical account of creation , cannot name key foreign leaders or believe other such idiocy ? Democracy works great in small, well educated countries like Switzerland, South Korea, Denmark and New Zealand, as most of the people...

How can a book that not only denies science (are you talking about the Left Behind Series?), again, unlike Star Trek or the Space Odyssey trilogy, but presents it as fact (which it must be taken as due to it being in the Bible, so long as the reader is a Christian), be science fiction? It is, howeve...

I have noticed no creationists have satisfied my perfectly reasonable demands. Stop going off topic; instead, attempt to defend yourselves or admit defeat.

Back on topic: YEC is a conspiracy theory for which no evidence exists. Once again, evolution is not a d...

I'm against it but for some reason, it doesn't bother me that much that it's legal. What bothers me is how weak the arguments in favor of abortion are. Most of the same arguments could be used to justify infanticide. I don't think that anybody is in favor of abortion. I'm certainly not. I'm merely ...

Despite being atheist I'm also (loosely speaking) a Zen Buddhist, but always feel reticent to speak of that here because of the anticipated atheist backlash dissecting every sentence. Sometimes it would be nice to discuss such things in a friendly and informal way without it being a battleground. T...

If one cannot be corrected, then why should society supply them with the essentials of life? Supporting a person who does not, and/or who cannot, contribute is irrational and thus I fully support capitol punishment for at least these people.

I have long believed in a system based largely on the PRC's laogai (e.g. reeducation through labor, RTL for short) system for all dysfunctional and damaging persons in American society. Before anyone brings up the accusations of "human right's abuses", note that I am not denying nor questioning most...

Could you explain that? Make another thread if you feel it would derail the topic.
+1. Threads are for the theme, not the rheme, as we say in linguistics.

What do you think about abortion? I won't call it murder in its true sense but it sure as hell is akin to it. I always find it ironic that those who screech the loudest in support of abortion also screech the loudest against the death penalty. Abortion is less murder than killing a normal, adult go...

When was the last time Jews persecuted Christians? Two thousand years ago? At the time of Stephen and Jesus, 90% of the Jews in the world were in Persia (the Diaspara) not in Palestine. They never even heard of Jesus and Stephen. ruveyn According to the argument posed, then technically no Christian...

1. Abortion is statistically proven to be far safer than giving birth, so your proposition is invalid. If you re-read the first paragraph of my response, I made no mention of abortion at all. I implied that pregnancy , not abortion, can in some rare cases place the mother's life in jeopardy, ergo y...
