I don't know how this works in other countries but in the UK your medical records usually follow you via your GP. If you are registered with a GP perhaps this would be a good place to start? Another possibility might be your insurers (I believe you all have some form of medical insurance in the US) ...

I am similar to ConceptuallyCurious so maybe this is a common issue. Could also tie in with anxiety about wetting the bed. Obviously I agree with everyone who mentioned ruling out medical issues, but given this is only happening specifically at bedtime that seems unlikely. If he is wetting the bed f...

It is possible (based on my own experience) to experience auditory hallucinations (voices) as a response to severe anxiety without becoming so severely psychotic that one completely loses touch with reality. Personally I usually retain enough insight to know I am experiencing voices without necessar...

After I was diagnosed my psychiatrist told me I had some 'personality issues' as well. Turns out I she (and I believe the specialist diagnostic team, although they never mentioned it so I am not sure) felt I had strong traits of anankastic / obsessive compulsive personality disorder alongside ASD. I...

I have a friend who had a brain injury as a child and also has very many autistic traits. I do find myself wondering sometimes what he was like before the injury, especially as his mother (who I also know) is also quite 'spectrummy'. What is perhaps more important though is not the diagnosis (autism...

If this is your impression then it is likely you have simply not been as close as you may like to believe to someone with one of these conditions. I have had a fair amount of experience with people with serious mental illnesses and have seen many of them both when well and during manic or psychotic ...

I am now at the museum so have had a chance to look around. I suggest we meet next to the 'talks and tours meeting point' sign near the information point through the Grand Entrance (Cromwell Road). There are several entrances so hopefully this will make sense when you get here. As has been previousl...

Sounds like a plan! I had considered a cafe but they can be quite expensive and as they only seemed to have one I thought it might get quite busy and they might get cross if we didn't buy anything.

Most of the symptoms you describe sound like typical ADHD symptoms to me (my best friend has it and struggles with the same things). Depression and anxiety are common ADHD comorbids and could be causing the loss of appetite/weight loss and loss of interest in things, although some of this could also...

Of course you are welcome PipBoy. Since nobody seems to have any preference over venue and it is now only a couple of weeks away, I am going to go ahead and suggest we meet at the V and A museum (nearest tube South Kensington and very easy to find from there). I am happy to discuss it further if any...

I'm with Fnord on this. I do want greater awareness of what autism is and isn't and protection from discrimination. I have the right, should I choose to do so, to highlight how particular traits that I have may suit me to a particular job and to avoid talking too much about my shortcomings - this is...

I was diagnosed in the UK this year (2015) under the DSMV with ASD. They did not specify a level but did say during the process that they were no longer diagnosing Aspergers. Personally I think the distinction is fuzzy at best, particularly in adulthood, and actually prefer to use terms to describe ...

Interesting discussion. My ASD diagnostic profile includes 'traits of anankastic personality' (which is the same thing as OCPD), although having read the criteria there seems to be a lot of overlap between this and ASD, which I guess is why it does not merit a separate diagnosis. My psychiatrist has...

Hi Anneliese, It will only be my second time meeting everyone so I am relatively new to this too. However, I really enjoyed the last meetup and it will be nice to have another female there. Hopefully we will get a few more replies before finalising the venue, I imagine people are busy trying to orga...

That''s great Specialsauce. Sorry, Accounting lad, just realised I can't do the 24th so it'll have to be the 31st (I believe this accommodates everyone else). 1. Is 2pm OK for a meeting time? Or do any of you have a better suggestion? 2. Would you like to meet at the V&A, the National Gallery or...
