I wrote another blog post in response to the claim that Rodger had Asperger's. It turns out he did not. Another shooting has taken place. The most important thing to remember at a time like this are the victims and their families. Once again, I see media attempts to stress "Asperger's," and once aga...

I have looked at the actual study online, and using "data" from the study, some of the main sources of which are the UK tabloid "Daily Mail" and a site called "murdermedia," I have found that there is no correlation, either in the study or anywhere else, between autism, brain injury, and mass murder...

Requesting permission to use a quote, without identifying you, to put in a note to delegates. The Chair of the committee has come out in support of the Virginia autism ID on licenses bill, which will make it much harder to stop. I will not use your name. I have collected about 20 permissions so far....

Contact people if you want to write a line or two. These are members of the subcommittee to which the bill has been assigned: Virginia House Committee on Transportation, Subcommittee 3. Talking points (some suggestions) are: 1. possible discrimination/safety issues. The bill may cause more harm than...

I have some talking points/short letter and the email addresses of the legislators on that committee as well as the whole Committee on Transportation. Since the supporters of this legislation ...

Did the Massachusetts bill pass? It looks like it was last year? Also, were parents/guardians able to register people? The VA one does not look, at first glance, like it would include people who do not directly request the designation, but in VA, as I already said, people other than the individual c...

When I first posted this, there was a place where I could "add a poll," so I clicked that and made up a question, which was "Would you put your autism dx on your driver's license?" If I actually did manage to create a poll, I have no idea how to access it! If anyone saw a poll, would you comment her...

I would like to know what people think about this legislation. A bill has been introduced in VA that would allow for an autism designation (or intellectual disability designation) on a driver's license or special ID. While the bill is supposedly voluntary, new drivers who are 15.5-18 could be signed...

I mostly have wanted to distance myself from the film. But recently, I found that PBS had created a whole page of "did you know?..." statistics about autism. 13 points, most of which were negative, including that "we are twice as likely to die." I asked them to remove it; they did not (so far). I th...

"Be scared. Be VERY scared, because Autism $peaks is coming to Washington, and they have not changed their tune a bit. But now, Autism Speaks has ratcheted its operations up a bit and wants to singlehandedly mastermind a “national plan” for autism, one that still does not include Autistics at the de...

To put the idea of financial stress being more difficult for Autistics into perspective, the total additional amount is well over $200,000 (including interest, which theoretically could be paid early IF I had any additional money to do that, which I don't). It will take 21 additional years of paying...
