Where is this??

It looks absolutely magical

What schools do you people go to? In a competitive program you wouldn't be getting straight A's by "sitting in class and only paying attention for one to two hours per week." I have heard stories how students at MIT and Cal-Tech average 60 to 70 hours per week. If you guys honestly think school is ...

This link has a lot of details about how to do graphics in general, and has a section on figures specifically. On the side it has links to a bunch of other pages that look useful, including some sample documents.

Thanks!

Now I can continue to feign computer competency another day.

I guess despite the supposed stereotype there aren't a lot of aspies who love math. Right now I'm trying to self-teach myself axiomatic set theory. I'm a math senior who just got accepted to a PhD school in pure math. And I guess there are times when me and math are on good terms when we're not hav...

Well I know some Java and C++ as well as a few other programming languages and various software utilities like MATLAB, but I get confused with LaTeX about the fonts and the "packages" and how there's like a dozen different versions of everything not all of them compatible with each other. So maybe m...

I know that east Asian cultures are often really into work ethic and structure but sometimes that can dull your mental acuity a bit. If you already "know" the material and you just need to give your best performance at test time, try taking a break to refresh your mind.

Well update: I just got accepted to a very nice school (top of my list!) a few days ago. It must have been a clerical error, but it's too late now they're stuck with me 8) This is a fact of life- Don't get angry about one rejected application I take it as my right to get angry about things even if I...

I'm having one hell of a time finding fundamental information about LaTeX. It's easy enough to find info on LaTeX commands, but whenever I try to download a distribution package it seems like there are always errors/problems of some sort and I have absolutely no idea how to fix them or often times w...

I hate libraries and most books.

The university library where I attend is filled with unruly people and much noisier than it should be. I have my own apartment where I can just do puzzles all day when I'm not under obligations.

I'm sure most here will agree that college parties are too loud and crowded and generally chaotic. We could just blame that on autism. But really, loud music and parties doesn't make a whole lot of sense regardless. What is the reason for partying? Really it boils down to an excuse to get a bunch of...

I applied to PhD schools a while ago and just now heard back from the first place. They rejected me, via e-mail. Not even on some sort of waiting list. No, they just threw my app straight into the trash. I wont be surprised now if I don't get in anywhere. I've got everything that matters. High GPA, ...

Hopefully you're still checking this thread Pandora_Box. I can verify that melatonin works great for sleep. It's the only thing I've taken that's potent enough to get me to sleep hours before my natural sleeping time (appr. 4am) without making me feel spacey or groggy the next day. And the sleep is ...

I just came back from partying with people I previously considered friends. I am still drunk so perhaps this will not have a coherent macro-structure. I was ignored tonight. It's not an uncommon thing. I am often ignored. I was once a quiet person and this would be understandable at that time. But I...

Well I've sent in my applications to PhD schools and I'm awaiting (hopefully) acceptance. I've talked to grad students and they say their lives are much better now that they're in graduate school. I believe them because it makes sense if you love the area you're going into.

Late romantic period and select modern works are the places where I've heard by far the best music. Both classical and baroque are well structured like a cube, but just as boring. If I had to pick one it would be baroque. It typically lends itself to mental stimulation whereas classical is really ju...
